I am a solo private practice therapist and I specialize in developmental and attachment trauma, anxiety, and PTSD. My favorite technique to use is called Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy and it is a supported and structured way to work on processing trauma. I am also an EMDRIA certified counselor.
I strive to encourage a self-driven sense of wellness with all individuals I work with. Since 2015 I have worked with individuals coming from an array of backgrounds, challenges, circumstances, and stories. Having worked with professionals from diverse specialties (psychological, psychiatric, medical, occupational, nursing) I like to take a collaborative and eclectic approach to mental health and therapy. Regardless of a person's background it is possible to achieve relief from depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, stress, and relational challenges.
My expertise is in supporting people living with depression, anxiety, and the after-effects of traumatic interpersonal experiences at work, school, religious institutions, and in families. Yihhsing Liu (中文: 劉懿馨; Pronouns: she/her/hers), Ph.D., LPC., NCC My clinical practice is informed by principles of humanistic psychology with the following focuses: psychodynamics, cultural relational theory, and trauma-focused framework. I practiced psychiatric nursing as a Registered Nurse (RN) and a Registered Professional Nurse (RPN) in both child & adolescent and adult in-patient units at the designated psychiatric treatment center in the city of Taipei, aka Taipei City Hospital, Department of Psychiatry, Taiwan from 1999 to 2004. Additionally, I served as a clinical faculty in the program of Counselor Education at Duquesne University (2015-2024). I provided teaching, training, and clinical supervision for counselors-in-training and supervisors-in-training on a regular basis throughout my academic appointments. I offer services for a variety of mental health issues from short term, brief interventions to long term psychotherapy. I am a native speaker of Mandarin and offer bilingual mental health counseling.
I work with folks 18+ who are struggling with issues around depression, anxiety, and life transitions, including the transitions and challenges related to the global pandemic. Many of the individuals I’ve worked with in the past considered themselves geeky. I practice eclectically with a strong emphasis on Person-Centered Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. I am trained in a variety of techniques including Motivational Interviewing and EMDR.

OCD Spectrum is led by Dr. Flower, clinical psychologist and OCD/anxiety disorder expert. He is president of OCD Pennsylvania, the state-wide local affiliate of the International OCD Foundation. We specialize in treating obsessive compulsive disorder and the spectrum of similar disorders such as phobias, test anxiety, social anxiety, general anxiety, procrastination, and hair pulling/skin picking. All of our therapists primarily use evidence-based cognitive-behavioral approaches with their patients. Exposure and response prevention therapy, ERP, is the gold standard treatment for OCD and other anxiety disorders and our therapists are experts in this approach as well. We are exclusively doing tele/video therapy at this point due to COVID.
