Therapists for college students near New York, NY
My goal as your therapist is to provide the best service I can through a personally tailored approach. I’ve had the privilege of working with people ages 3 to 105. I have helped people navigate the various stages of life to improve their overall mental health. I am a strong believer in meeting those I serve where they are. Whether you are experiencing loss, crisis, anxiety, depression, stress, relationship issues, a life transition, parent-child challenges, family conflict, or need a sounding board, I am here to be a support. I am licensed psychotherapist in New York, Florida, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Utah, and Ohio. I am also a Certified Wellness Counselor. I have been in the mental health field for over 10 years. I have helped adults, children, couples, teens, older adults, and families navigating difficult situations, improve relationships, and thrive. I utilize a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, narrative therapy, stress management, family therapy, couples therapy, mood management, anxiety reduction, empowerment techniques, and work/life balance interventions. Wellness is the act of practicing healthy habits on a daily basis to attain better outcomes. Thriving instead of just surviving. It is an honor to be a support to you.
I am a New York and CT Licensed Clinical Social Worker helping adults aged 18 and older. I have experience helping people develop coping skills to address overwhelming emotions, refrain from acting impulsively, find balance, improve relationships, navigate transitions in life and work toward personal goals. I work with clients in a person-centered approach to work towards goals, handle stressors, and develop methods of caring for one’s self.
The transition to college at any age can be challenging. Course load, social pressures and changes to friend network during this transition can cause anxiety, depression, burnout and relationship issues. These things can keep you awake at night, make it difficult to focus on your studies, lead you to engage in negative self-talk and unhealthy behaviors. I can help you develop coping strategies to help ease that transition so you can make healthy choices and achieve your educational goals.

College is a time of huge transitions, and it’s easy to feel anxious, stressed, or unsure where you stand. If you're struggling with overwhelming worry (anxiety), feeling stuck after a tough transition (like starting school or a breakup), grappling with past trauma, or just trying to figure out challenging relationships, you've come to the right place. Your Therapy, Your Tools My practice is built on the belief that you already have what you need within you (though it may not feel like it, right now) —we just need to clear out all the noise and find and focus on what actually works for you. We'll ease your mind: We use practical, science-backed strategies to help you unhook from negative thought spirals and calm that constant feeling of being "on edge." We'll discover and heal the root causes : We'll gently explore the "parts" of you that are feeling anxious, unclear, or worn out, and use powerful processing methods to reduce the intensity of recent or past trauma or fear (like EMDR and IFS). We'll help you adjust: Whether you're dealing with the stress of major life transitions or trying to set healthier boundaries in relationships, we'll create space for you to process the change and build a stronger sense of self. We'll get you grounded: I integrate the calming power of nature-based tools (in or out of the office) to help your nervous system slow down, allowing you to find a peaceful space even when deadlines are looming. We’ll work together, at your own pace, to move you from feeling overwhelmed to thriving on campus and beyond. Ready to take a breath and start building a college experience that feels authentic and manageable? Let's connect.
Hi, I'm Courtney. As a therapist, I strive to create an environment of safety, curiosity, discovery, and courage for everyone seeking therapeutic services and I look forward to collaborating with people in creative ways to reach therapeutic goals. I strongly believe in the power of strength-based and client-centered practice and am devoted to creating opportunities for the people around me to achieve their own goals and exceed their own expectations for success. I show up as myself in the therapy room – integrating humor, storytelling, and metaphors. My holistic approach allows for clients to grow and learn more about themselves in new ways. Therapy with me is a judgment-free zone to help you gain perspective and understanding of your emotions, coping skills, and relational patterns. I recognize that therapy is a healing process, not a quick fix. I focus on the therapeutic relationship as a tool for helping you grow and heal at your own pace, and in a way that feels right for you. I have experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. Currently, my clients are primarily young adults. I hope that through working together, you can find self-compassion, curiosity, and healing through enriching your life and relationships. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and have 7 years of experience. I love spending time with my family, friends, and dog. I love to spend time outdoors, ski, listen to music, cook new recipes, and travel. I am accepting new clients at this time, via telehealth services. I am an out-of-networker provider. I can provide you with a statement at the end of each month that you can submit for reimbursement. I look forward to meeting with you.

I aim to create a space where each person feels seen, understood, and safe enough to show up as they are. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, body image struggles, relationship distress, trauma, family dysfunction, and reproductive-related stress. I believe therapy works best when it feels human, honest, and safe enough to be real. For me, that means showing up as a real person too—usually with a big cup of coffee in hand—while bringing warmth, humor, and directness into our work. Together, we’ll validate what you’ve been through while noticing patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
Finding a therapist is difficult, it’s scary, and it can be overwhelming – there are so many different providers just on this site! I’m here to help. I’ll work with you to closely examine your past and present experiences to better your future. I promise you that in our sessions, I will bring empathy, honesty, collaboration, and an open mind. So, how do I practice? I’m an integrative therapist – I’m trained in psychodynamic therapy, and I use tools from other treatments, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, when appropriate and to better serve you. Basically, I believe we need to journey together to explore what internal anxieties, traumas or experiences are causing you discomfort, pain, or just a general feeling of being “stuck.” And I’ll also work practically with you in the here and now to provide further insight and relief. Ultimately, the relationship between therapist and client is incredibly important to helping you achieve your goals. I’ll do my best to make you feel safe, seen, and heard. I’m honored that you’re willing to give this a chance, and I invite you to reach out for a free consultation to see if we’re a good match.

I worked in college counseling for four years, (2021-2025) and understand the unique challenges students face along with the systemic factors that can greatly impact students. Your mental health and wellbeing is essential for navigating the college experience, and you deserve support through this journey. When working together, we usually focus on whatever is most pressing for you. For some, this looks like discussing an upsetting situation and processing the emotions they are feeling, then finding ways to make these emotions more manageable so that they can function in their day-to-day life. Other times, we focus more deeply on connecting patterns and themes that have developed over the course of your life and figuring out how to navigate the world differently. I often help students to better understand and identify their feelings by pausing, slowing down, and connecting the mind and the body. We can work on how to handle distressing feelings without constant avoidance or distractions, how to communicate more effectively, and how to create meaning and wholeness. If you feel anxious, depressed, stressed out, and are having difficulty with managing all of the things you're trying to balance between your personal life and academic responsibilities, reach out and I am happy to connect and see if we'd be a good fit.
If you’re looking to have the space to explore issues and experiences that have impacted your life, I may be a good fit for you! I work with individuals struggling to navigate mood disorders, anxiety, history of trauma, and interpersonal distress. Additionally, as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I have first-hand experience with the challenges and fears that come with developing, growing, and accepting your identity. I believe healing can happen through processing your experiences and receiving empathy, support, and honest feedback. My approach to therapy includes using skills from CBT, DBT, and CPT to help understand and change thoughts and behaviors. Together we will work to create a deeper understanding of unhelpful patterns that may be present in your life. I will aim to gently push you out of your comfort zone in order to avoid repeating these patterns. Finding the right therapist for you can be difficult and take time. If you think I may be able to help, please reach out to me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation. During that call we can address your questions, goals, and our compatibility. If we determine we are a good fit together, I’d be happy to schedule an appointment!
I'm a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in the State of New York, and have over 20 years of experience in successfully helping college students who struggle with depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, grief & loss, and poor self-esteem. I enjoy working with people from a variety of different backgrounds, identities, and life circumstances. I take the privilege of working with patients very seriously and am committed to providing a consistent, supportive, and productive therapy experience to each of them, in every session. I have specific training in several treatment approaches (Interpersonal therapy, CBT, & contemporary psychodynamic therapy among them), and tailor the work to the particular needs of each patient. Regardless of the approach, however, my goal is always to work together to find practical strategies and solutions we can use to create real, meaningful change. While my experience and training are certainly important to how I approach this work, I believe my genuine personal warmth and natural sense of humor are also central to creating therapy relationships that feel safe and transformative. If you'd like to discuss the possibility of our working together, I'd be happy to schedule a free 15-minute consultation.

I collaborate with my clients to help them understand their strengths and gain insight into themselves, experiment with new ways of interacting with others, and learn new skills to work towards cultivating fulfilling lives. As part of this process I strive to create a warm, empathic environment, and I prioritize developing therapeutic relationships with clients based on authenticity and trust. I draw from client-centered therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy techniques in my work. As a generalist, I am experienced in helping individuals with a broad range of concerns including anxiety/stress, mood difficulties, identity, career and school concerns, life transitions, and relationship difficulties. I have trained and worked in several college counseling centers over the years, including large state schools as well as smaller private schools. If you're feeling stuck in cycles you can't quite explain and want to understand yourself more fully, I can help. With over 20 years in clinical practice, I provide psychotherapy and assessment for adults with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. My psychotherapy approach is psychodynamic, mindfulness-based, and trauma-informed. Together, we will explore how your symptoms may have developed as adaptations to difficult life experiences, identify recurring patterns and discover where change is possible. Part of our work is developing a way of listening that tunes in not only to what is being said but also to what remains unspoken. I provide personality and adult ADHD assessments. In my view, assessment is not simply a way to assign a diagnosis, but an opportunity to answer longstanding questions and recognize strengths alongside patterns that may be keeping you stuck. I have a particular interest in working with adults from immigrant backgrounds. Living between cultures can leave you feeling unsure where you belong or wondering how to stay true to yourself while remaining connected to your family and community. I offer a culturally attuned and respectful space where these experiences can be explored with self-compassion.
