Hi, I’m Kelsey (she/her). As a psychotherapist, I encourage open communication and reflection, creating a space where we can navigate your unique experiences, including anxiety, relationship patterns, self-exploration, disordered eating, obsessive thoughts, family dynamics, and life transitions. With a foundation in a relational approach, I view the therapeutic relationship as an essential tool for exploring relational patterns, attachment, and opportunities for healing and change. I have a passion for supporting individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community and warmly welcome clients of all identities, recognizing how gender, race, sexuality, and privilege shape our mental health and experiences. My approach is holistic, trauma-focused and person-centered, drawing from Psychodynamic Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Model, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic work. I’m looking forward to getting to know you as we work together.

Additionally, I have advanced training and experience with DBT techniques to assist individuals in developing tools for emotion regulation, adaptive coping responses and effective interpersonal relationships. I adhere to a collaborative and empathetic approach in order to assess individual needs and goals and determine the most effective treatment options. Treatment is dynamic and compassionate with and emphasis on developing skills to support stability, goal achievement and well-being through the life span.
Psychotherapy is a co-created experience between the therapist and client. For over 20 years I have had the honor of working with people who feel stuck in their lives, whether it be their jobs, their relationships, or perhaps in some part of their identity. By bringing non-judgmental curiosity to our work together, it is my goal to create a safe and welcoming space within which we can explore the patterns of behavior that may not be serving their purpose anymore. I enjoy working with teens and adults, providing them with support to be their most authentic selves. My experience as a middle school counselor afforded me the opportunity to work with children and their families during an often very tumultuous time. It is there that I developed an interest in gender and sexuality development and I have worked with many families whose child has undergone a social transition regarding their gender identity. I consult with schools on how best to support children socially transitioning, and give workshops to teachers & professionals on how to create more inclusive classrooms. I also have extensive experience working with children with learning disabilities. In addition to my work as a clinical social worker, I am a sexuality educator and am pursuing a PhD.
Some of the most meaningful moments in my work have come from patients who carried their struggles alone for far too long — people who finally decided, on their own terms, that something needed to change. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), I work with young adults to older adults from a wide range of socioeconomic statuses, upbringings, faiths, and political affiliations who may be navigating depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma. Of these, the ones who truly stand out are those who were honestly determined to seek treatment for their own betterment. What you bring to our work together matters deeply to me. If you're arriving with a genuine willingness to make real change in your life, we'll build on that foundation. Together, we'll develop a structured treatment plan with clear objectives oriented around your SMART goals, moving toward measurable growth rather than simply managing symptoms. My approach is rooted in respect, honest partnership, and the belief that treatment works best when it's something you've chosen for yourself. Whatever brings you here, my hope is to help you grow into a version of yourself you may not have realized you could be. Drawing on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based stress management techniques, I help you address the immediate obstacles you're facing, while using a psychodynamic approach to work through the deeper roots of core issues that may stem from key past experiences. I approach every session with respect, compassion, and open-mindedness, so you are empowered to achieve this healing in an environment where you feel safe, comfortable, and free to express yourself without fear of judgment. You can also expect to work with a therapist who understands what it means to be human, which is to be imperfect regardless of skillset or background. I recognize and accept that certain flaws are simply part of one's character, and whether those are things to actively work on will always be a decision we make together. By drawing on my own experiences, within appropriate limits, and even humor when appropriate, you feel recognized as a full person with emotions rather than a case to be managed. Mental health struggles are not strangers to me. I've navigated my own battles with depression, anxiety, and traumatic loss, and have been blessed with the genuine fortune of working through those experiences with skilled therapists and mentors who shaped both who I am and how I practice. These experiences are foundational to my work now. Growing up, I was taught that kindness and respect are the conditions under which real trust is built. That lesson has stayed with me. In my practice, I believe warmth and acceptance aren't just values to aspire to — they are clinical necessities. Treatment is most effective when the person receiving it feels genuinely welcomed, regardless of background, upbringing, faith, or life experience. All patients who come ready to do the work are welcome. To anyone considering treatment for the first time: give it an honest chance. The willingness to show up is often the hardest part, and it's worth it. Music has been a constant in my life. I play guitar and bass, write songs, and sing. Video games are another genuine passion; I've logged serious hours in Skyrim, compete enthusiastically in Mario Kart, and have recently been deep into Marvel Rivals (among others). When schedules align, spending time with family and friends is where I love to be.

Times of transition are exciting and challenging. Starting something new, moving through inflection points in your education and career, preparing for completion and uncertainty while you figure out what's next, are all important processes everyone hopes will go smoothly - but sometimes they can feel rocky. Even good changes or subtle shifts can feel unsettling, especially for highly sensitive people. If social, academic or emotional / mental health issues are stressing you and making it hard to feel confident and supported in working towards your goals, therapy can be a great tool to help increase understanding about "how it all works" and get support in developing patience and progress towards deepening clarity and commitment to your goals. Anxieties, insecurity, depression, difficult patterns in relationships or work, and problems focusing can be understood and changed, so you have more energy and confidence to devote to living. Become more connected to yourself and others through a specialized process of exploration with a trained professional, and see a difference in your life. A therapist’s expertise and experience are very important, but the *key* ingredient of effective therapy is a “good fit” between you and your therapist. If you’d like to meet and see how it would be to work together, I would be pleased to hear from you. Beginning work as a psychotherapist in clinic settings in 1995, I opened my private practice in 2002. I received my Master’s Degree in Social Work from New York University, am a New York City based Licensed Clinical Social Worker (licensed in New York and New Jersey), and earned a certificate in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy from the NYFS Institute.
I work with children, adolescents, young adults, and adults who are navigating anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and relationship challenges . I especially enjoy supporting young adults through transitions such as college, early career, identity development, and finding their path. I also have a special interest in working with women navigating infertility, pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, and the emotional complexities of parenthood. Through creating a warm and supportive space, I hope to help you better understand your experiences, develop effective coping strategies, and move toward meaningful change. I offer an individualized, integrative approach grounded in psychodynamic therapy while incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based strategies. I work collaboratively with clients to explore underlying patterns, develop practical coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. I strive to create a warm, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where you can feel understood and supported. If you are feeling overwhelmed or are navigating a difficult life transition, I would be honored to support you as you gain greater clarity, self-awareness, and a deeper understanding of yourself.

He takes a warm, collaborative approach, helping clients gain clarity, build insight, and work through challenges at their own pace. His approach is flexible and tailored to each individual, drawing from person-centered and cognitive-behavioral therapy. Health and wellness are not linear and will only evolve within a dynamic and complex interplay of the many systems in our lives. I firmly believe that promoting mental health is a part of this interplay. I can help you with exploring those systems relevant to your mental health and developing strategies and routines to promote a robust everyday experience. I call this promoting your mental “Wellth”; because we can consider ourselves wealthy when our whole being is supported and living in abundance, not just our financials. My hope for the clients that I work with is that you will find the experience of working on your presenting needs and concerns to be a robust challenge. One that brings you closer to being the person you know you can be and closer to maintaining the lifestyle and relationships that are ideal for you.

As a licensed Mental Health Counselor, my passion is in collaborating with clients to help strengthen their personal strategies and to find a life worth living. I believe that with the right tools and motivation, my clients are able to manage the difficulties that life has given them. Clients learn to trust themselves and develop ways to learn coping skills and increase their sense of self-worth through continued practice in our sessions. The idea to go into psychology was sparked by my own experiences with depression, grief, interpersonal conflicts, and trauma. In college, I went to a therapist and learned to cope with the challenges that I had been facing since my adolescence. As a result, I was completely enamored with learning about how the mind works and why people behave the way they do. I believe that with my own personal experiences, I can create a safe and non-judgmental environment for my clients, so that they may grow and heal. In my practice, I utilize an integrative approach, and holistic, person oriented theories. I am certified in Dialectical behavioral therapy and specialize working with personality disorders, interpersonal difficulties, trauma, and work with other mental health conditions as well.

I believe that all of us have had some challenges in our lives whether that translates to bigger traumas or smaller hardships. As a result of our challenges, we have beliefs about who we are and our place in the world. I use evidence-based practices including EMDR to identify and manage triggers that may manifest in fear, anxiety, and negative beliefs about who we are and what we deserve. Let me help you break free from your People-Pleasing, Perfectionist, and/or Procrastinating tendencies and find peace with being your authentic self.

My style is flexible and collaborative, because no two people are alike, and your care shouldn't be either. My path to becoming a therapist grew was rooted in a simple but powerful belief that all people, regardless of age or background, sometimes need help and extra support. This belief has been shaped and strengthened across a range of settings, from higher education and hospitals to pediatric clinics, with each experience deepening my commitment to versatile, compassionate, and individualized care. Working across these environments, I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact that change can have, not only on an individual, but on everyone around them. That perspective informs every session. With an extensive background supporting individuals on the autism spectrum and experience across a broad range of developmental needs, I bring both professional expertise and genuine understanding to our work. No matter where you are in your journey, it is never too late to take that first step toward growth and healing. Outside of the therapy room, you'll find me staying active, whether that's out for a run or exploring new ways to move. I love trying new foods, discovering different cuisines, and getting creative through arts and crafts. These passions for movement, curiosity, and creativity carry over into how I approach my work with patients every day.
