Starting therapy is a huge step towards bettering yourself, and taking that leap of faith to begin this journey is the beginning stage of healing. I would be extremely privileged and feel so honored to walk alongside you during this journey. I will do my best to provide you with the skills and strategies that you are looking for in order to better your well-being. I take into account everyone’s individual backgrounds in order to develop the most effective treatment for you, and to allow you to feel safe and heard. I am a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor, and received my undergraduate degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University, and my Master’s degree in Counseling Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Western Michigan University. In the past I have worked with clients ages 7 and up, who are struggling with life transitions, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other challenges. I believe that therapy can be a transformative experience; something that allows people to live their authentic and best lives, and helps us to develop coping skills to handle life’s toughest challenges. I practice therapy from a Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic (CBT) approach. I strive to provide an empathetic environment for those who step into my office, and to provide a safe space where you can expect to feel heard and comfortable while working with me. I am currently scheduling new clients and have immediate openings available. I look forward to working together to identify and address your concerns in a safe, compassionate, and non-judgmental manner. Whether you are seeking short-term or long-term therapy, I will collaborate with you to process your feelings, find solutions, or identify helpful coping skills. I have experience providing a wide range of psychological services for adults in outpatient therapy and medical rehabilitation settings. Areas I specialize in include anxiety, depression, sleep, grief, trauma, and coping with major life transitions.
My approach begins with the understanding that connecting with one’s self and others is a pathway toward finding meaning and fulfillment. This pathway of connecting can become blocked by old emotional wounds or current relationship struggles. The partnership formed in the therapy relationship becomes the platform where healing broken connections may occur. This approach can help bring about lasting change by getting at the ‘root’ of the problem and bring relief from symptoms. Central to Chris’ approach is a concern for the role that faith and belief play in the life of the patient. My practice is shaped by his time training at Northwestern University, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, and the Center for Religion and Psychotherapy of Chicago. My approach to working to help people change comes primarily from a model for psychotherapy where tending to feelings, symptoms, and patterns of relating become an important part of the healing process. In our first conversation, you can expect to briefly discuss your concerns as well as setting up an initial meeting. The first meeting is where your concerns and history are better understood in order to offer specific recommendations and feedback.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to reach their fullest potential, and at times, we all need a bit of support to get there. I am here to provide that support, tailored to meet your individual needs. Therapy can be a transformative process, offering a wide range of possibilities for growth and healing. I believe that every person is unique, and as such, therapy should never be a "one size fits all" approach. Whether you are new to therapy and seeking to manage daily stresses, looking to foster personal growth, or in need of healing, we will work collaboratively to ensure that therapy is right for you. I take great pride in offering a safe space and a compassionate ear to those open to enlightenment and change. I believe that everyone possesses the inner strength to grow, though sometimes these strengths may be hidden. Through a person-centered and compassionate lens, we will work together to uncover your strengths and cultivate self-compassion to help you achieve your goals. In addition to traditional therapy, I also offer Art Therapy as an alternative form of expression, providing comfort and a unique way to explore your inner self. If you are ready to embark on a journey of personal growth or are simply curious about where to begin, I would be honored to accompany you. Change is not always easy, but when you are ready, you will find a safe space here and a committed partner ready to support you on your path toward healing and growth.
Do you feel like no matter how hard you try, it’s still not enough? Maybe you’re stuck in a cycle of self-doubt, anxiety, or low mood that keeps you from truly enjoying life. Old wounds or difficult past experiences may still affect your relationships, self-worth, or ways of coping, making it hard to find stability and peace. Despite all your efforts, that deep sense of confidence and inner calm remains hard to find. In our work together, we can explore these patterns and underlying challenges, using effective approaches like CBT, DBT and EMDR therapy to help address and heal past trauma and unhelpful belief systems. If these struggles resonate, I’m here to help. My practice focuses on supporting individuals facing challenges with self-worth, anxiety, depression, life transitions and the impact of past trauma. In our work together, we’ll dive into these patterns, uncover their roots, and develop practical strategies for healing and growth. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Together, we’ll work toward a stronger, more confident you—ready to meet life’s challenges with resilience and embrace your true worth.
