Do you find it challenging to relax and enjoy the present moment, especially in difficult times filled with fear and uncertainty? Are you struggling to quiet your inner critic? Do you have a hard time sitting with intense emotions, naming them, and expressing them to others? I work with female and queer clients who want to feel more grounded, present, and empowered in their lives. Things such as trauma, substance use, anxiety, and depression can impact our ability to connect with our bodies, feel our feelings, and experience safety in the present moment. In addition to talk therapy, I offer somatic therapy: Brainspotting (which is similar to EMDR) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. Somatic therapy uses a bottom-up approach of feeling vs. thinking. The body contains so much intuitive wisdom, and being able to sit with challenging sensations – in a safe and controlled way – can lead to better emotion regulation. Therapy can be challenging, so I strive to provide a light-hearted, non-judgmental space where humor and laughter become a part of the process. If I could be a good fit for you, email me to schedule a free consultation, or to schedule an initial session.

I believe every person’s story matters. Regardless of what you’ve been told in the past or how others have responded to you, your experiences are important. My goal is to create a space where you feel valued, heard, and respected. Counseling is not about fixing you—it’s about understanding you, honoring your story, and helping you reconnect with calm, clarity, and a sense of direction. Healing begins when you feel safe enough to be honest. As a Certified Advanced Addiction & Drug Counselor, I understand that substance use is often a way of coping with pain, stress, or emotions that feel overwhelming. If you’re struggling with substance use, you may carry guilt, shame, or fear about asking for help. I provide a supportive, non-judgmental space to explore what’s behind the behaviors and work toward healthier ways of coping. Recovery is not about perfection—it’s about understanding, support, and building sustainable change one step at a time. My approach to counseling is collaborative and grounded in evidence-based practices. I take time to understand your goals, listen closely to your experiences, and gently guide the process through education, reflection, and meaningful conversation. We may explore family patterns, past experiences, and current stressors to better understand what’s contributing to your challenges. Healing doesn’t happen overnight, but small, steady steps can lead to lasting change. If you’re ready to explore whether counseling could be helpful for you, I’m here to support you. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing ADHD, navigating substance use concerns, or simply feeling overwhelmed, you don’t have to do it alone. You can email directly to schedule appointments at JDusendang@greatlakeswellnesscounseling.com

Hey, I’m so glad you’re here! Starting therapy can feel overwhelming, especially when you’re driven and expected to hold it all together. I work with holistic-minded adults, including entrepreneurs, professionals, athletes, neurodivergent individuals, transgendered individuals, and those with chronic illness or invisible disabilities, exploring identity, creativity, or burnout. I’m very laid back; come as you are. Curse, wear pajamas, lay in bed, be human. This is a space where you don’t have to perform, just show up. Only rule: please don’t drive during sessions or do anything that could harm yourself or others.

Life can be challenging at times. Sometimes the guidance of a professional can provide you the clarity needed to help you move forward. I work with individuals seeking treatment for depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, substance use, codependency and life transitions as well as with families wanting to improve their relationship with one another. I have 25 years of experience working with families, specifically those dealing with estrangement, substance use and mood disorders. My theoretical framework is grounded in structural and internal family systems, lifespan development and attachment theory; interventions I use are framed within the context of feminist and gender theory. As your therapist I will strive to provide a supportive, accepting and collaborative space that helps you achieve lasting change and resilience. Reach out to me for a free consultation to see how I can help.

I understand that at times, being human is hard. It is natural to have psychological and physical reactions to life events, such as changes, challenges, as well as traumatic experiences. As your therapist, I will help support you by simply being a listening ear and validating your experience. In addition, I can provide you with the opportunity to learn skills for behavioral change and symptom management. I believe that transformation and growth occurs through collaboration of appropriate interventions and a developed sense of self-awareness. My approach to therapy is eclectic and attachment-based. This means that we will build a therapeutic relationship that is based on a foundation of safety, trust, and support. Together, we will tailor your treatment according to your needs. The space I offer is a judgment-free zone, a comfortable place for you to be yourself. I would be honored to hear your story and provide you with the care you need and deserve. Life is a story, and sometimes, we find ourselves caught up in chapters that feel challenging, overwhelming, or just downright confusing. But what if I told you that you have the power to rewrite your narrative? As a firm believer in the transformative power of therapy, I've discovered a gem that has become a compass for many of my therapy journeys—Narrative Therapy. Let me spill the beans on why it's not just about talking through problems but reshaping the entire story. 1. Separating Person from Problem: Imagine detangling yourself from the web of problems that seem to define you. Narrative Therapy invites you to step back, helping you realize that you are not the problem; the problem is just a chapter in your vast and intricate story. 2. Re-authoring Your Narrative: Ever wished you could be the author of your own story? With Narrative Therapy, you can be! Together, we roll up our sleeves and rewrite the script. We discard the old, tired narratives and create new, empowering tales that resonate with the person you're becoming. 3. Making Meaning, Shifting Perspectives: The beauty of Narrative Therapy lies in its ability to help you make meaning of your experiences. By changing the language around the presenting problem, we open doors to new perspectives. Suddenly, the story isn't about defeat but about resilience, growth, and newfound strength. Your Story, Your Power In the world of Narrative Therapy, your story isn't a burden; it's your greatest asset. We strip away the labels and limitations, giving you the pen to script a narrative that aligns with your authentic self. Ready to Redefine Your Narrative? If you're craving a change in your life's storyline, let's embark on this transformative journey together. Narrative Therapy isn't just about finding solutions; it's about discovering the incredible resilience and wisdom within you. Here's to re-authoring, reclaiming, and celebrating your unique story!
