I am on Headway for virtual sessions. I would love to meet you. I was a non-traditional student when I attended college. I know how hard it can be. I will walk along side of you while we tackle your problems together.

I am currently accepting clients on a short-term basis for crisis counseling. Sliding scale and pro bono services available. My availability is flexible and I offer in person (East Lansing) and Telehealth. I work to help people navigate their complex worlds in order to live a healthier, happier life. I believe that all components of one's life are interrelated. Stress, crisis, life changes and uncertainty happen to everyone, often without warning. When crisis or chaos strike, it is comforting to have someone listen in a safe, open, non-judgmental space in which you can uncover the inner strengths and skills you already possess. I work with clients to create this environment, through which genuine healing, change, and self-empowerment can occur.

Hi there! I’m so glad you’re here and taking this important step in your therapy journey. My name is Ruqaiyah Rogers, and I’m a licensed clinical social worker and therapist. I’m passionate about helping college students like you find clarity, confidence, and balance while navigating life’s challenges. 🌟 College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming whether you’re dealing with anxiety, stress, depression, big life changes, or just feeling stuck. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you feel comfortable exploring what’s going on and figuring out ways to move forward. I see therapy as a partnership. We’ll work together to identify your goals and use approaches that fit your unique needs. For example: CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): This is all about helping you recognize and shift unhelpful thought patterns so you can feel more in control of your emotions and actions. DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): Here, we focus on learning practical skills like managing overwhelming feelings, improving relationships, and staying grounded in the moment. Brainspotting: This is a technique that helps process deeper emotions and stress stored in your body. It’s great for understanding and healing from tough experiences. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): This approach is especially helpful for working through difficult memories or trauma, so they don’t feel as overwhelming anymore. If this is your first time in therapy, you might feel a little nervous, and that’s completely normal. Therapy is a space just for you, a private, judgment-free zone, to talk about anything that’s on your mind, no matter how big or small. You’re already showing courage by taking this step, and I’m here to support you in finding your way toward growth, healing, and the life you want. Let’s work together to create meaningful change and help you feel more confident and connected to yourself. 💜💛

Taking the first step of reaching out to a therapist can feel daunting, so let's take this next step together. We all have times in our lives when things start to feel too heavy to navigate alone. I am passionate about working with folks experiencing challenges with anxiety and/or OCD. I also specialize in grief and feel honored to support clients in learning how to carry what can't be fixed. I'm a firm believer that just as we care for our physical health, our mental health deserves the same attention, understanding, and compassion. I take a human-centered approach, honoring the identities that shape who you are and the systems you navigate, creating a space for healing and meaningful change. My primary goal as a therapist is to create a safe environment, rooted in curiosity, for clients to feel empowered and know they are not alone. With my office based in Grand Rapids, I offer in-person and virtual sessions for people in the state of Michigan. Feel free to reach out to me by phone or email, whichever you prefer.

Are you ready to take the next step on your path to mental wellness? Request an initial consultation and we can talk about what you are looking for in a therapist and see if we are a good fit. The initial consultation is 10 to 15 minutes and is completely free. My ideal client is someone who is ready to do the work- even if you might still be undecided if therapy is for you. I also enjoy working with clients who like to have a bit of fun. Laughing in therapy is important too!

The Journey to Your Internal Compass Starts with One Step. We cannot control what happens to us, but we can control how we respond. It takes courage to seek help for personal struggles. Therapy is like having a compass. The compass provides a sense of safety for travelers as they know they can rely on it to always point them in the right direction. With a compass—any compass—we can always pause for a moment in time and take stock of where we are so that we can continue to grow and change. All of us must change course from time to time because what we are doing isn’t working. If you are struggling with addiction, alcoholism, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or trauma, allow me the honor to walk alongside you as you take the steps to the authentic you and discover your internal compass. I use evidence-based treatments tailored to individual needs to help clients attain and maintain long-term sobriety, improve relationships and well-being. I offer a safe and confidential environment on telehealth software. Healing happens within relationships and it's crucial you find a therapist you connect with. Call or email me today. Let’s walk this journey together.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel intimidating, especially if you've been carrying the weight of anxiety, trauma, relationship struggles, identity questions, or overwhelming emotions for a long time. You don't have to navigate those challenges alone. I work with young adults who are ready to better understand themselves, break unhelpful patterns, and create lasting change. Whether you're navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship difficulties, personality concerns, life transitions, or questions surrounding identity, therapy can provide both practical tools and a space to process what you've been through. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and tailored to each person. I integrate evidence-based approaches, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while recognizing that every person's experiences and goals are unique.

I specialize in working with women struggling with anxiety, depression, struggles with self-esteem and setting boundaries. I have also done extensive work around surviving narcissistically abusive relationships and antagonistic relational stress; I am certified in this area as a Narcissistic Abuse Treatment Clinician (NATC). I have been told I have an authentic, genuine style. I also enjoy using humor. Also love Brainspotting for trauma. I have years of experience providing therapeutic services in a variety of modalities (community based, outpatient, intensive outpatient, group, biofeedback and neurofeedback). I am non-judgmental and open-minded, and provide a safe space for my clients to do hard work. I'd love to help. I'd love to work with you and walk with you through the good times and the bad. Hi and welcome! I'm so glad you are here. I approach therapy like a conversation: collaborative, with warmth, humor and honesty. I use an integrative approach that is unique to you and your needs. Together, we’ll identify the strengths already within you, explore how you relate to yourself and others, and gently challenge what no longer works for you anymore. Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent a decade working in international and US-based nonprofits, living abroad for a number of those years and engaging with people and cultures from all over the world. I also have worked within higher education in residential life and student life roles. All of these experiences were their own sort of education, helping me learn how to navigate the changes, surprises, and complexities of life. It would be my honor to sit with you as you navigate your own story.

Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
