Therapists for college students near 15213
I have an eclectic, integrative style, utilizing evidence-based practices and techniques from various therapeutic approaches. I am trauma-informed, apply intersectional, feminist, and body and sex positive lenses, and incorporate harm reduction principles. Though I'm experienced and knowledgable supporting clients of diverse backgrounds, I am also cognizant of my lived experience as a queer cisgender male (he/him pronouns). I take a holistic view of clients, build upon inherent strengths, and create a partnership to guide and facilitate change, making progress toward goals.
I have worked with people of all backgrounds but I generally work with women and the LGBT community. I work with clients on self-esteem, body positivity, anxiety management, trauma symptoms, and relational issues. As a human and a provider, I am feminist, anti-racist, fat positive, sex positive, pro-science, pro-vaccine, and pro-LGBT. My approach is varied depending on the individual's history with treatment. For people new to therapy, it may be helpful to utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. CBT involves looking at thoughts patterns and behaviors that may be creating obstacles in your life and setting up appropriate coping skills to address those issues. For people who come to therapy for the purpose of processing trauma, a trauma-informed, relational approach is necessary. For people who are looking to gain understanding about how their past intersects with their present behaviors, insight oriented therapy would be the best approach. I am not a "Listen and Nod" therapist. I will actively listen, provide you with feedback and analysis, and be open with you about your diagnosis, prognosis, and any treatments indicated. With full transparency, I say that I am not a validation-only therapist. Some folks want a therapist who will listen and validate without providing feedback or analysis. That is not my style. I will, however, work with you to figure out exactly how you can benefit from therapy.
What does therapy mean to you? What makes it so beneficial? How many thoughts, feelings, expectations, questions are you noticing as you take the first step in finding the “right” therapist? You are not alone. Therapy is a collaborative relationship in which I cultivate an open and non-judgmental atmosphere to equip you in facilitating change, fostering vulnerability, and promoting a rich and meaningful life. Whether you want to work towards specific life goals, change, or stressors including complex trauma, cultural issues, anxiety/depression, I strive to guide you through the process. Let's tackle the "what will people say." My goal is to help you become the best version of you through managing your emotions and living a values driven life. Hello! I'm so happy you stopped by! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I have 13 years of experience in the mental health field and I have also recently completed doctoral training in clinical psychology. I specialize in psychodynamic therapy and have a great deal of experience in working with people with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship problems and concerns and personality concerns/disorders. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space for clients to open up about their struggles and painful experiences. I follow the client's lead as we work together to build an understanding of what is fueling their current difficulties. As we work together, client's develop a complex understanding of their lives and what has led to their current struggles. This opens up the possibility for new emotional and relationship experiences. My focus is on helping clients achieve long term and lasting change. Clients can expect to feel heard and accepted. With an environment of warmth, humor and curiosity, clients feel open to discuss their painful experiences and to open up emotionally in a way that they may not feel able to in most spaces in their lives. We will work together to build a deeper understanding of your experience, which will lead to long term and lasting change in emotions, work and relationships.

College can be an exciting time, but it can also feel overwhelming. You may be juggling academic pressure, relationships, identity questions, family expectations, or uncertainty about the future. Maybe you notice patterns in your relationships that don’t feel good, feel stuck in anxiety or low mood, or are struggling to cope with stress, loss, or change. If you’re looking for support, insight, and practical tools to help you feel more grounded and connected, therapy can be a meaningful place to start. I approach therapy as a collaborative and supportive process, creating a space that is accepting, compassionate, and non-judgmental. Together, we’ll work to help you better understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while developing skills to navigate challenges more effectively. As you build awareness and learn to relate to yourself with greater kindness and presence, you may feel more confident handling stress, setting boundaries, and making choices that align with your values. I work with college students, adolescents, and adults. My primary approach, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), is especially helpful for managing anxiety, depression, academic stress, and relationship concerns. I also have experience working with trauma, addiction, and gambling-related issues. My goal is to support you in developing resilience, strengthening your sense of identity, and creating a college experience—and life beyond campus—that feels more balanced, meaningful, and authentic.

Together, we can uncover your strengths, explore your experiences, and build a life that feels true to who you are. I’ll create a space where you feel understood and supported as we explore challenges and their influence. Therapy can bring up a lot, whether it’s new or something you’ve done before. I’m here to help you make sense of your experiences, build on your strengths, and find ways to feel more connected, confident, and like yourself in your everyday life
