I see plenty of college students, including those who are taking a semester or two off as they figure out what to do next. I have two main areas of specialization: ADHD and sex therapy. I have written four books on ADHD and am a certified sex therapist. I tend to keep things practical and focus on what is going on in my clients' daily lives and how to help them get to where they want to be (which may begin with figuring out where that is anyway).

Transitions: An Athletic and Life Skills Program was developed in July 1999 because of the need to educate individuals across the life span of the strategies and skills used for successful transitions in life. Individuals already possess the skills that are needed. However, they may be unaware of their own strategies and/or their skills are not fully developed. Through my counseling services and the life skills program, needs of the individual are met by utilizing individual or group counseling sessions, couples, marriage or family counseling, workshops, speaking engagements and/or group/team building exercises with all being provided with personal attention. In 2007, the company name was changed to Transitions Counseling Service and Life Skills Program. I’m a good fit for students who get trapped in their head—overthinking everything, replaying conversations, second-guessing decisions, or feeling like they can’t relax unless everything is “handled.” You might be high-achieving, but constantly stressed, exhausted, or scared of messing up. Sometimes that turns into procrastination, avoidance, or feeling numb. In therapy, we’ll focus on helping you calm the mental noise, handle stress more effectively, and build confidence in your choices—so school and life don’t feel like a constant emergency.
At Balanced Beginnings LLC, I collaborate with you and aid you in process of becoming whole. Life often presents moments where, for various reasons, we find ourselves entangled in conflicts affecting our mental well-being. In these instances, we are faced with a crucial choice—to either turn towards or away from a deeper understanding of ourselves. I firmly believe that every emotion and symptom serves as a key, unlocking doors through which we journey into the unconscious and shine a light into the darkest parts of ourselves. My approach is grounded in psychodynamic and emotion-focused perspectives, creating a sacred space that welcomes all facets of yourself, both known and unknown. Within this space, we will allow what needs acknowledgment to rise to the surface of consciousness. Together, we will navigate these revelations with compassion and acceptance, fostering what’s needed to integrate all parts of yourself into a more unified whole.

Sometimes along our journeys we learn ways of thinking and feeling that aren’t most helpful to us later on. I offer an opportunity to consider unlearning what isn’t serving us and to find new ways of thinking. Other times, we’d all just benefit from an extra layer of support; time set aside that’s all ours. Most of all, the work we do will allow you to feel some relief, comfort, connection, the opportunity to experience positive feelings, and sit with the hard ones. I offer therapy to adults struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, obsessive thoughts, trauma, grief, career challenges, and motherhood. I specialize in treating disordered eating and body image concerns. I work extensively with runners. I practice a holistic approach and am skilled in meditation, yoga, mindfulness, and coping techniques. I understand that the best therapy happens when you and your therapist are a great fit. I offer a compassionate, thoughtful, and effective approach. I believe in the healing power of animals and my bulldog, Olive, joins us for sessions.
