Perhaps you’ve been keeping your head above water in your day-to-day life, but find yourself worrying a lot or feeling stuck in a “funk." Maybe you’ve been carrying something heavy for long enough, and are finally ready to talk through it in a supportive space. Or maybe you simply want to feel heard and understood as you navigate a tough transition in your life; you just need someone to be there with you while you do it. While anxiety and trauma may leave us feeling depleted, I believe that counseling can help us find our most authentic and resilient selves through these experiences. My aims are to listen with non-judgment, to help you identify the goals and steps toward them that feel right for you, and to offer support, tools, and even a gentle nudge when you need it. We will co-create a space that feels safe enough to talk about the hard stuff in life, while also shining plenty of light on what helps you feel hopeful and positive. The decision to start counseling is not an easy one, and I know feeling a good connection with your counselor matters. I am passionate about building genuine and effective relationships with my clients and find that empathy, authenticity, and even humor are helpful tools in doing so. Please feel free to reach out about setting up a free phone consultation. I offer a combination of in-person and telehealth sessions based on the needs, preferences, and health status of both myself and my clients. Rates listed below are cash pay rates as of May 2022; out-of-pocket expenses to clients using insurance will vary based on their specific insurance plans, so please confirm the coverage of your specific plan prior to initiating services.

When Tiffany began her career, she used more well-known techniques, like cognitive behavioral therapy and play therapy, but it wasn’t long before she became increasingly aware that the mental health field needed alternatives. Neurofeedback takes advantage of the brain's ability to change itself allowing a person of any age to make changes in behavior and thinking patterns more easily. Using a combination of counseling and Neurofeedback, Tiffany began to see more substantial changes in her client's lives. Currently, Tiffany utilizes Neurofeedback and Heart Rate Variability in combination with traditional counseling. Click here to read Tiffany’s article on the popular Blog—Triad Mom’s on Main. Tiffany works with a variety of clientele utilizing a person-centered approach, which means sessions will start with you and your needs. Together, we will explore the issues that you bring to counseling in a holistic way with emphasis on emotional and personal history perspectives. Tiffany‘s experience has allowed her to work closely with many children, teenagers, and adults of different needs and backgrounds where she brings enthusiasm, compassion and cross-cultural understanding to her work towards healing and wholeness.
I specialize in working with individuals who may be struggling with anxiety, past traumas, disordered eating, confidence, feeling overwhelmed, or feeling inadequate. Some of my clients describe themselves as a "perfectionist". It’s exhausting trying to maintain the standards you hold yourself to when internally you’re feeling like things are falling apart. I take an empathetic and non-judgmental approach that creates a safe and warm environment allowing you to explore past traumas, feeling overwhelmed, anxious or inadequate. Please visit my website for more information. Everyone can benefit from therapy. How often in your day to day do you have an hour where you’re fully seen, heard, and encouraged? That’s what therapy should provide. Too often therapy is misrepresented and clients stigmatized as weak or ill when, in fact, the strongest thing you can do is seek help. Let me help you through your darkest of times or your day to day concerns. There is no issue too big or too small to conquer. I believe everyone has the capacity for self-healing and change and that my role as a counselor is to support clients on their journey towards healing. I'm passionate about helping others through the daily challenges of life and trauma. With special consideration of how power, oppression, and the collective unconscious affect our individual well-being. As a black queer Liberian-American woman I draw from my personal cultural background to encourage clients to embrace and reconcile their own identities and experiences as they heal.

Hi! My name is Tyania (ty-an-nuh) and I am a Black, queer, cisgender licensed therapist (LCMHCA) offering individual therapy at Healing Arts Collaborative in Durham, NC. My approach is rooted in the idea that profound healing occurs in the context of relationships. Our lives are dictated by the relationships that we do or don’t have, and a large part of how we discover ourselves is through reflection and feedback - being seen and understood by another. Being your authentic self can be challenging for many reasons, which is why I strive to make our time together a place of refuge where you can be your true self (or have the space to figure out who your true self is). You can find more information about me and Healing Arts using the below link to our website. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
I can help you change unhelpful behaviors and thought patterns such as catastrophizing and self criticism, develop resilience and self care to manage stress, and create healthier and happier relationships. I take a holistic, mind body approach which includes developing lifestyle habits to help you feel your best emotionally and physically. I recognize that most of the work of therapy happens outside of our sessions so I frequently make suggestions for things to work on in between our meetings. My approach is influenced by CBT, Attachment Theory, Positive Psychology, Psychodynamic Theory, and Mindfulness, and trauma informed. I enjoy working with students and professionals and welcome clients of all background and identities into my practice. You can visit my website for more information.

I view therapy as a unique, dynamic space between two people where an alliance is being formed. Clients often come my way frustrated by not being heard by health providers or mental health therapists who lack empathy, understanding, or who come off as judgmental. My job is to meet you in a place where you can feel deeply seen, heard, and understood.

You are at your threshold and something has to give. Maybe you have been struggling for years, or maybe you have new stress that feels unmanageable. But, after years of experience working with others just like you, here is the truth: lasting change is possible. My clients come to me because they want a shift and are seeking support as they turn onto a new path. Together, we will explore your thoughts and feelings, using a goal-oriented, holistic approach. To feel like you can set boundaries and have the energy to participate in your life and experience joy again. I welcome individuals from all backgrounds. I prioritize working with any and all women, girls, members of the Queer and Trans communities, and expecting parents, ages 15+. As a cisgender white woman I am aware of the privileges I hold and I honor the perspectives, backgrounds, and lived experiences of my clients. I believe in a collaborative therapeutic process and therefore will ask for your input in goal-setting and treatment planning conversations. My work is trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based, aimed at co-creating strong therapeutic rapport. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Mindfulness and Grounding, and Therapeutic Art. Through each of these interventions, I aim to strengthen and empower your voice and provide a safe space to be who you are, without judgment and without expectation.
Maybe you feel like you don’t quite belong anywhere or struggle to trust your own worth.
