My clients are exhausted and overwhelmed like you. They are tired of doing their best to keep all these balls (school, work, parenting, relationships, self-care, health and wellbeing, sleep + more) up in the air (even though admittedly they are pretty darn good at it). But when they inevitably drop a few because something else pops up or they get tired, life feels messy and they are quick to place judgements on themselves. My clients are expert problem solvers and doers, who in the face of stress, just keep going. Some are the type of person who the people in their life lean on for support. Some have tried a number of ways to fix or problem solve their way our of their emotions or exhaustion. They find their coping to work for a little bit but aren't moving them towards the life they imagined for themselves. Some realize they aren't sure they can keep up with all of what needs to be done to feel "okay". When some of my clients do take time for themselves or the rest they need, their mind struggles with feeling guilty, worrying about what they "should" be doing for work/school/person (fill in the blank with any responsibility). Like my clients, you deserve to find ease and connection in your body without a to-do list flowing through your head or scanning your body for what’s wrong now. Not being defined or consumed by your productivity is not out of your reach. I'd love to help you get there. Contact me today for a free consultation.

Many of the students we support are balancing classes, work, family expectations, relationships, and the pressure to figure out their future, all at the same time. You may be experiencing constant stress, anxiety that makes it hard to focus, low confidence, or feeling stuck in your own head. Some students come to us feeling burned out, disconnected, or unsure of who they are becoming. I enjoy working with young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and trauma. I have a passion for helping individuals reclaim their lives back from trauma, and I believe trauma therapy is more important now than ever. I believe the mind/body connection is very strong, and is important in mental health. I also work with clients who are experiencing stress, life transitions, and grief. I am an EMDRIA certified Therapist and IFS informed. I also use a lot of CBT, DBT, and mindfulness interventions. I am also very strengths- based. In my sessions, I aspire to offer a safe, supportive, and empowering environment to my clients, so they can be themselves, and work through whatever is keeping them from being their best selves. I operate through a strengths-based approach, and will try to bring laughter and humor into the sessions (when appropriate) as laughter is the best medicine.

Congratulations on looking for a therapist and trying to figure out what will be best for you! It can seem like it requires endurance, when all you’re trying to do is get your mental health needs met. The good news is there are lots and lots of great therapy practices! And a practice or a therapist that’s a great fit for one person, doesn’t mean that it is for you! All that matters is what works for you. Whether you feel nervous, doubtful, unsure, excited, and/or anything else, let’s chat, when/if you’re ready. Just because we talk, doesn’t mean you have to start therapy!
My experience is primarily with Gen-Z and Millennials wanting to address anxiety, depression, relational concerns (communication, boundary setting, self-awareness, etc), religious trauma, and life transitions. Some niche areas include: Christians who don't want Christian therapy, exhausted performers / resentful people-pleasers, anxious change-resisters who struggle when newness comes, and those who want to grow in boundary setting and their sense of self. I'm a huge advocate for narrative therapy. Story-telling is healing and gives context for how we became who we are today. As we understand our stories and the labels we've acquired throughout our lives, we gain self-compassion and the ability to more effectively navigate our present-day lives. Please reach out to set up a consult call to see if the therapy vibes are there. If you'd rather text, my text-only number is: (704) 762-1162.

I work with young adults (18-30) on anxiety, social anxiety, and self esteem. Does this describe you? You are the lonely one; you feel unseen. You feel deeply, and your emotions are intense. You are jealous of others who find it easy to connect, and you want what they have. When you seek connection, people disappoint you with their lack of authenticity. You love, but don’t know how to be loved. You once thought a romantic relationship or best friend would be the solution; you would feel whole. But you did not feel complete, and happiness started to feel out of reach. Understanding in your relationships feels foreign. Despite your frustration, you are committed to finding understanding, being valued, and connecting with others. You want to shine and thrive. I know your inner world's importance. I am familiar with the challenge of discovering how to fit in the social world. Can you imagine yourself confidently connecting with others? Can you imagine being valued and heard? Together, we will find your confidence. We will explore fears, hang-ups, and insecurities together. Take the first step towards the confidence and connection you want! I am a graduate of Appalachian State University with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, and have been practicing for the past 17 years. I specialize in work with individuals, couples, families and teens, and have a focus in systems theory and narrative therapy. I prefer to work in collaboration with my clients to use the expertise that they have in their own lives to help find strategies that can help them build the life that they want. I am passionate about helping people work through and solve the problems that are important to them and I consider it an honor to be invited into the lives of my clients through the element of therapy.
I believe in the basic goodness and natural wisdom of all human beings. Layers of confusion and unconscious wounds can disconnect us from our true selves. We may end up feeling bad and acting in ways that hurt our relationships— with ourselves, with others, and with this magnificent planet. We become hard and out of touch with our lives and callings. Real, deep change is possible when we face ourselves and our challenges with honesty, willingness, and compassion. - As your counselor, I will adventure with you into the weird and wonderful world of your own inner self. I'll use techniques rooted in Experiential Dynamic Therapy to help you touch into the freedom and wisdom already inside you and to overcome the barriers that arise on the path toward that life. Expect to be cared for and to be challenged— if you’re living in a stuffy little house made of old, limiting patterns, it might be time for some demolition work. I’m not afraid to hand you the sledgehammer, and I’ll be with you as you begin to step forward into an open, affirming wilderness of possibility.
