Therapists for college students near Ann Arbor, MI
Reaching out for help can be overwhelming and scary. How do you know which counselor to talk to? How do you know if it’s a good fit? What do all the letters mean after everyone’s names? What are my friends and family going to think if they hear I’m in counseling? There is so much confusion and stigma around mental health, and I would love to help you make sense of the process. I have extensive experience working with individuals in crisis, helping them find reasons to stay alive and ways to cope with what can feel like all-consuming depression and sorrow. I also have experience working with individuals who are experiencing difficulties with overuse of alcohol and drugs and can help plot a course toward harm-reduction and a more rewarding life. I love working with teenagers and college age students. It’s during this time that people often are struggling to find their identity, who they love, and what they want out of their lives. It’s also during this time that difficult symptoms tend to start making an appearance. Learning how to cope now can lessen the effects later in life and lead to much healthier and holistic outcomes. I offer free 15 minute phone consultations to see if I am the best fit for your needs. Let’s get connected today and start working towards a future you are excited about.

As a licensed therapist, I provide a safe, calm, and compassionate space where clients feel seen, heard, and truly understood. I believe therapy is most effective when the therapist and client work collaboratively as a team to build a strong therapeutic relationship. Together, we work toward meaningful growth and healing. I specialize in working with college students and adults who are navigating low self-esteem, depression, anxiety, grief, and relationship challenges.
Most of my clients are from BI&POC or LGBTQIA+ communities. I strive to create an unconditionally affirming and accepting therapeutic space where you can feel comfortable to explore whatever you need to in order to heal and find your path to liberation. I work diligently to equalize the power dynamics within the therapeutic relationship, and I strive to act more as a collaborator that works with clients to identify their strengths, values, and beliefs. I utilize a trauma-informed, anti-oppressive/decolonization framework to support clients in their journeys toward growth, authenticity, empowerment, and self-acceptance. I recognize the significant effects that organizational structures and cultural contexts can have on the health and wellbeing of individuals, and also how these structures can negatively impact our perception of ourselves. In addition to my work with general mental health, I am also a sex therapist and sexuality educator. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and kink/BDSM/poly friendly. College and graduate school can be exciting, meaningful, and rewarding—but they can also feel incredibly overwhelming. Many students find themselves struggling to balance academic pressure, relationships, work, family expectations, finances, burnout, anxiety, perfectionism, or simply trying to keep up with the constant demands of daily life. You may look like you’re functioning on the outside while internally feeling exhausted, stuck, disconnected, or unsure how to slow your mind down. I work with college students, graduate students, and young adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, stress management, academic burnout, relationship concerns, self-esteem, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. I also support students who feel caught in cycles of overthinking, procrastination, people-pleasing, perfectionism, or difficulty managing emotions and responsibilities. My approach is supportive, collaborative, and practical. Therapy is not just a place to vent—it’s a space to better understand yourself while also learning concrete tools to help life feel more manageable. Together, we may work on improving coping skills, emotional regulation, communication, boundaries, confidence, organization, or ways to manage stress without constantly feeling like you’re running on empty. I have a background in school-based mental health and understand how emotional wellness directly impacts focus, motivation, relationships, and academic performance. I strive to create a therapy space that feels genuine, nonjudgmental, and approachable, where you can show up exactly as you are without feeling pressure to have everything figured out. Whether you’re struggling quietly, feeling overwhelmed by expectations, or simply wanting more support and balance in your life, you do not have to navigate it alone. I’d be happy to connect and see if we might be a good fit. I offer flexible evenings and weekends via telehealth or in-person Wednesdays and Thursdays 15 minutes from MSU and LCC.

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker, LMSW and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, CAADC with over 15 years of experience. I have specialized knowledge in trauma, depression, anxiety, and substance use. I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Internal family Systems, (IFS), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidenced based intervention for working with individuals who have experienced trauma or disturbing events in their lives that keep them stuck. EMDR quickly moves an individual through disturbing events and negative self-beliefs, to positive self-beliefs, eliminating emotional distress. I believe improved quality of life, emotional, physical, and social, can be achieved by building upon your strengths and providing you a safe, supportive, nonjudgement environment, while respecting your hopes, dreams, and desires. I am passionate about helping individuals, couples, families and the LGBTQ+ community obtain the quality of life they deserve through their healing process. If you do not have the quality of life you deserve, there is hope. It would an honor to assist you with achieving the happy, healthy, and purpose driven life, with quality relationships, that you so deserve.

Life can feel overwhelming, especially when you are trying to balance school, work, relationships, family expectations, or figuring out what is next. You don't have to have everything figured out before starting therapy. I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental space where you can show up as you are and talk openly about what's on your mind. Together, we'll work on understanding what you are going through, managing stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions, and building practical skills to help you feel more confident and grounded. I work with adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, identity, and major life changes like college, starting a career, or simply learning how to navigate adulthood. Whether you are considering therapy for the first time or coming back after a break, my goal is to make the experience feel welcoming, collaborative, and helpful. I currently offer virtual therapy sessions for Michigan residents.
One of the things I love most about being a therapist is getting to witness people grow into the fullest, most authentic version of themselves. It’s incredibly meaningful to walk alongside someone as they work through challenges, uncover new insights, and build a life that feels more manageable, intentional, and aligned with who they really are. Watching that progress unfold — from the first session to the breakthroughs along the way — is a privilege I never take for granted. In our sessions, you can expect a space that’s centered around you. I always begin by inviting you to share whatever’s been on your mind lately. I find that when we don’t start there, the thoughts or worries closest to the surface can sometimes get in the way of our deeper work. But if you’re not sure what to talk about or nothing specific is coming up that day, that’s totally okay — I’ll guide us back to the goals you’ve set for therapy or revisit what we’ve been working on. My approach is person-centered, which means you get to lead the way and I’ll meet you there with support and structure. When I describe therapy to people in everyday language, I often say it has two layers. The first is what I call the band-aid approach — where I help you build tools and coping strategies that provide immediate relief. Whether you’re managing anxiety, navigating a conflict, or simply feeling overwhelmed, we’ll work on practical ways to feel better right now. From there, we’ll gently dig deeper into the “why” and the “how” — exploring what’s really going on beneath the surface so we can create long-term change. It’s about building a system in your life that helps you respond more effectively to challenges, emotions, or patterns of behavior. I deeply believe that each person’s story is shaped by their unique life experiences, cultural background, family dynamics, relationships, and more. These influences often play a big role in how we view the world and how we respond to stress or conflict. In therapy, I’ll help you make sense of those influences while also working through whatever issues are most present in your life right now. Healing happens when you’re ready for it — not when someone else tells you it’s time.
College can be one of the most exciting—and overwhelming—times in a person's life. Whether you're navigating academic stress, major life transitions, relationship challenges, or the impact of past traumatic experiences, therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain insight, and build effective coping strategies. I specialize in working with college students and young adults who are struggling with stress management, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma-related concerns. My approach is collaborative, supportive, and tailored to your individual needs. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help clients better understand themselves, develop healthier patterns, and move toward meaningful change. My goal is to create a therapeutic environment where you feel heard, understood, and appropriately challenged as you work toward your goals. Whether you're adjusting to college life, managing overwhelming emotions, healing from past experiences, or simply trying to find greater balance, I am here to support you throughout the process.

Between classes, relationships, deadlines, and figuring out your future, it's easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or just stuck. If you're feeling burned out, down, or like you're carrying too much on your own, talking to someone can help. Therapy isn’t about having all the answers — it’s about having a space that’s just for you. A place to breathe, sort things out, and feel understood. Whether you're struggling with motivation, going through a tough time, or just feeling off and don’t know why — you don’t have to figure it out alone. Let’s talk. You deserve support.
Many of the people I see feel overwhelmed by ADHD and want support from someone who truly understands how it affects daily life. Some also carry trauma or PTSD and are looking for a safe place to work through what they have been holding. They want practical tools, honest feedback, and a therapist who understands how their brain works.
