Therapists for college students near Harvard University
Going to therapy implies the courage to question ourselves and face the challenges that get in the way of self-acceptance. I believe therapy can be a transformative encounter that allows a different experience of ourselves. As a Colombian immigrant and a native Spanish and English speaker, I offer a culturally sensitive approach to therapy, attentive to the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, and class. My background and current role as a clinician at Harvard University Counseling and Mental Health Services have given me the privilege of working with patients from all over the world. I am trained in psychodynamic psychotherapy at the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis and strive to create a safe, confidential space for self-expression. I work with adults experiencing anxiety, mood disorders, PTSD, and life transitions, with particular experience supporting graduate students and young professionals. If you’re considering therapy, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation so we can explore how I can best support you.

I enjoy working with adults of all ages with any number of concerns or challenges getting in the way of how they wish to live their lives including anxiety, depression, trauma, major life adjustments or transitions, loss, and substance use. My approach to therapy is down to earth and collaborative. I begin by first aligning with you on your goals and supporting with CBT and DBT therapies. I am also experienced in working with individuals who struggle with substance use and/or are working towards recovery. I believe it is important to have a safe space to process your thoughts and feelings with someone you trust. I enjoy partnering with people to build a therapeutic relationship as they work to reduce the barriers to living the life they want. I approach sessions without judgement and tend to be interactive and compassionate in nature. I like to begin with a brief consultation to be sure we both feel we are a good fit - so please feel free to reach out.
My approach is collaborative and open-minded. I offer both long-term and short-term psychotherapy. True healing occurs when individuals can reflect on the ways they engage with others, with the world, and with themselves. Relationships are often a focus because it is here that struggles often present themselves.
Life requires constant adjustment. For many of us, this makes life more challenging. Do you struggle with life adjustments, mood disorders, or anxiety? If so, I am here to help. As your therapist, I will give you a judgment-free environment where I will help you combat your negative thoughts and find a positive way to move in whatever direction life brings. I will empathetically challenge you to come out of your comfort zone and see the world from a new perspective. I will give you the tools to heal, transform, identify, and utilize your strengths to address everyday challenges. Equally, I will provide you with time to make those adjustments, as we all know there can be setbacks along the way, but that doesn’t have to stop us. Together, we will build a stronger community. Marc is a seasoned clinician who uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in his work with clients. CBT focuses on exploring relationships among a person's thoughts, feelings and behaviors. During CBT Marc actively works with clients to uncover unhealthy patterns of thought and how they may be causing self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. By addressing these patterns, the client and Marc work together to develop constructive ways of thinking that will produce healthier behaviors and beliefs. For instance, CBT can help clients replace thoughts that lead to low self-esteem ("I can't do anything right") with positive expectations ("I can do this most of the time, based on my prior experiences"). The core principles of CBT are identifying negative or false beliefs and testing or restructuring them. Oftentimes clients being treated with CBT will have homework in between sessions where they practice replacing negative thoughts with more realistic thoughts based on prior experiences or record their negative thoughts in a journal. Studies of CBT have shown it to be an effective treatment for a wide variety of mental illnesses, including depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and schizophrenia. Individuals who undergo CBT show changes in brain activity, suggesting that this therapy actually improves your brain functioning as well. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has a considerable amount of scientific data supporting its use.

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, a trauma-informed therapist who helps college students navigate stress, self-doubt, and relationship challenges while trying to get the most out of college and figuring out who they really are. If you’ve ever tried to study for finals while spiraling over a relationship conflict, or pulled an all-nighter because you were rewriting a paper that was already good enough or procrastinated so hard you needed every last minute before hitting submit, I get it. Many of the students I work with struggle to keep up appearances while silently wondering if they’re falling behind. I’ve worked with undergraduate and graduate students at Harvard University and understand the intense pressure to perform, achieve, and never disappoint anyone (especially your parents). Therapy with me is collaborative, honest, and sometimes even a little funny (because laughing about how much you overthink counts as progress). Together, we’ll unpack what’s fueling your stress, explore the patterns that keep you stuck, and build tools to help you feel more secure, confident, and grounded in your own life. Finding a therapist who is the right step is essential to therapeutic success. I encourage you to shop around and also offer a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we could be a good fit. If interested in a free consult, feel free to email me or fill out an inquiry form on my website. I hope you get the support that you're looking for and more.

My name is Kristina and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker located in the Greater Boston area. My approach is to be authentic, non-traditional and meet clients where they are in their journey. I am specially skilled in a harm reduction framework and provide therapy without judgement. I also use an equity-focused lens and bring social justice into my whole-person approach. My flow is to allow the client to drive the sessions and encourage them to come with whatever version of themselves that they see fit. I have several years of experience working as a therapist in a community health center, working on an addiction team, primary care teams and providing group therapy. My group work experience has been running creative coping (art-based skills) groups, women’s groups and addiction/recovery groups. Most of my clinical work has consisted working with those with a history of chronic homelessness, individuals with prolonged institutional care histories, poly-substance use and severe mental health complexities. These experiences have led me to believe that therapy needs to be decolonized and more authentic to the client and therapist. If you think this ideology is a good match for you, feel free to reach out to inquire about services.

Hello! I am currently accepting new patients. All visits are through telemedicine, so I can see anyone in the state of Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or Colorado. My love for what I do in psychiatry, comes from the joy I get in helping others improve their lives. Most of my patients do not know which direction to go when then come to me, and that is ok. Some people come to me looking for second or third opinions about diagnosis or medications, some people are referred by a therapist to start medication. We can openly discuss decisions and options. This is a judgement free zone. There is no way you can TMI me! My primary role in our sessions is diagnosis, evaluation and medication management. The role I have in therapy is very small. Most clients are already in therapy or have been referred by therapists to me. All sessions are conducted by tele-medicine. **Offering flexible hours, evening appointments available, also some weekends. **

Effective therapy creates meaningful, lasting, joyful change. As your therapist I can help you resolve the inner and outer conflicts that create pain and exhaustion. Life brings unchosen experiences. Sometimes we feel hurt, scared, or deeply alone. Sometimes what happens seems too big to manage. For 25+ years I have had the privilege of helping people learn to live as their "best self," able to manage their moods, thoughts and situations with compassion and skill, to make changes to reach their goals, and to find happiness. I lived and worked in Africa for 6 years, and have helped people from many cultures find their joy. My specialty is helping people understand their unique "recipe" of biology, upbringing, relationships, and current situations, and how they might work with their "ingredients" to create immediate and long-lasting positive change. My approach is practical. I integrate psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral therapies, internal and strategic family systems, EMDR and other trauma-informed approaches, and mindfulness-based stress management. Depression, anxiety, loneliness, frustration, pulls towards behaviors that lead to pain...whatever is interfering with your well-being is worth changing. Together we can produce change. Please EMAIL
