Immediate Openings. Mornings, Afternoons, Evenings. Hi. I’m Sheena (she/her), a mental health counselor licensed in Massachusetts. I work with individual clients via telehealth Monday through Thursday. As a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) myself, I specialize in working with other HSPs (wondering if you might be highly sensitive? Take the self-assessment: https://hsperson.com/test/highly-sensitive-test/). Together, we’ll identify your strengths that you can use to manage the challenges that can come with being highly sensitive (including overwhelm, sensory sensitivities, and irritability). As a member of the queer community, it has been important to me to support LGBTQ+ clients throughout my career. For some clients, their gender identity and sexual orientation is a major part of our work together. For others, it’s reassuring to know they’re working with a supportive, affirming therapist. I am a Certified Body Trust® Provider, meaning I help clients work on their relationship with food and themselves from a weight-inclusive, health-at-every-size stance. Additional areas of focus include anxiety, grief, stress management, self-care, finding your purpose, and relationships. I bring empathy and curiosity into my work as a therapist. I aim to honor the wide spectrum and intersectionality of different cultures, neurotypes, sexuality, and gender of my clients, though there is always more for me to learn. I pull from different modalities to meet your unique needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused therapy, mindfulness, and internal family systems. I am trauma- and neurodiverse-informed. I believe the answers you seek are within you and I am here as a support and guide on your path toward growth, healing, and wellness. I love to use humor in sessions when appropriate. I take a balanced, gentle approach by supporting you to process how you’re feeling and what you’ve experienced. I also think it’s useful for you to learn skills and take action steps in and between sessions to support the change you’re seeking. I am truly honored to be welcomed into your world.

For the past 17 years I have worked in a variety of settings including trauma-focused outpatient therapy, therapeutic schools, residential, and foster care and adoptions. I use a holistic mind-body approach informed by Attachment Theory, Sensorimotor Therapies, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, DBT, CBT, and Collaborative Problem Solving. The decision to seek the support of therapy for yourself or a loved one is not a light one and at times can feel overwhelming. College and young adulthood can be exciting, confusing, stressful, and exhausting — sometimes all at once. I work with students who are dealing with anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, self-esteem issues, identity exploration, academic pressure, and major life transitions. I aim to create a therapy space that feels genuine, supportive, and judgment-free. You don’t need to have the “right” words or know exactly what’s wrong to begin therapy. Together, we can explore what’s been weighing on you, strengthen coping skills, and help you feel more grounded and connected in your day-to-day life. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs and goals. Therapy is not about being perfect — it’s about having space to be human while learning new ways to care for yourself.

Hi! What are you struggling with? What challenges are you facing? Do you need more support in your life? Are you looking for someone who can listen to you, create an environment where you can talk about things that are hard in your life, and is able to support you in areas you want to grow and develop in emotionally? I do a lot of work with anxiety, people in larger bodies and body liberation, all kinds of life changes and adjustments, the queer and trans communities, people in higher education, relationship and communication challenges of all kinds including parents, roommates, and intimate partners including ethical non monogamy. I am more than happy to answer questions or to provide more detail, and offer a free thirty minute consultation to see if we are a good fit and if I can be helpful to you. I do not accept insurance. My website has detailed information on why to not work with insurance companies. Many of my clients have agreements with their parents to pay for therapy in order to have the support they need to be able to thrive in a college setting. My current fees for individual therapy is $225 a session. I can provide superbills, which are a way to recoup part or all of what you pay me through your insurance company. I have not had any insurance company refuse to do that for any clients I have worked with so far. Please check out my website for much more information about me and how I work. I look forward to hearing from you!

All of you is welcome here. At the root of my therapeutic approach is the belief that every person is worthy of compassion, support, and the experience of feeling seen. I view my role as a therapist being a mirror, a flashlight, and a map—with the destination ultimately decided by the client. I see the treatment-planning process as a unique art form. The subject of the art—the treatment goals—is determined by the client, while I offer the materials: the therapeutic modalities and tools. I draw from a variety of theories and approaches, ranging from psychotherapy and somatic therapy to parts work, CBT, and DBT, to name just a few. All of my work is approached through a cultural and trauma-informed lens, beginning with our initial call. Another essential ingredient in all of my individual and group sessions is psychoeducation. I am an active therapist, which to me means I will not only reflect what I hear you sharing but also connect it to other things you've shared; ask questions to deepen our exploration; connect your experiences to relevant theories and concepts; and, if you’d like, share skills, practices, and tools. Some of my areas of clinical strength, which may be less commonly represented in the field, include Complex PTSD (CPTSD), bipolar disorder, and ethical non-monogamy (ENM).
