Facing challenges can be difficult for all of us. Some seek therapy in moments of crisis; others are motivated by alleviating uncomfortable feelings and thoughts that can include anxiety, depression, sadness, anger, and so on. Still others seek treatment as part of self-discovery. It’s a privilege to support my clients through their courageous journeys of self-understanding that leads to an improved sense of wellbeing, regardless of the challenges they face. In my opinion, strength is not the absence of problems, but rather having the resilience to face them. I am looking to work with young adults who want to be their best selves. With over a decade of experience treating adolescents and families, I have helped numerous individuals and families experiencing symptoms related to depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, social struggles, addictive behaviors, LGBTQ+ concerns, and more. I mindfully adapt my therapeutic approach to the needs of each client. In talking with me, you will find a therapist who is eager to lead with his ear in order to meet you where you are. My style is compassionate, empathic, welcoming, relational, empowering, and probing. I bring a sense of humor and creativity to our sessions. Your unique challenges require a flexible, evidenced-based, and individualized method of support.
I am a neurodivergent affirming Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider. For almost two decades, I have been working with and supporting neurodivergent teens, adults, and their parents through life’s transitions. I work with my clients to understand their experience, areas they would like to focus on, and collaborate to address these issues with an approach that’s every bit as unique as they are. I have worked extensively with autistic clients and individuals diagnosed with ADHD, focusing on topics related to anxiety, depression, sexuality, self-esteem, life transitions, workplace conflict, relationships, parenting, social skills, and executive functioning. With a judgment-free, strengths-based approach, I seek to foster happiness and confidence, supporting each person as an individual finding their own path. I believe that differently wired minds are what create progress, innovation, and enrich our world.
College can feel like a mix of excitement and pressure all at once. Between academics, relationships, figuring out who you are, and trying to keep up with everything, it’s really easy to feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like you’re just barely holding it together. In therapy, I try to create a space where you don’t have to have it all figured out. We slow things down, make sense of what’s going on, and work together to find ways to feel more grounded and more like yourself again. I really believe people already have strengths in them, even if it doesn’t feel accessible in the moment. My job is to help you reconnect with those strengths and figure out how to use them in real life, especially during stressful or confusing seasons. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, relationship stress, trauma, and big life transitions. I use approaches like CBT, mindfulness, and body-based (somatic) work to help you understand what you’re feeling and actually shift it in a practical, supportive way. My fee for a 50-minute session is $180. I also offer a limited number of sliding scale spots ($90–$100) to help make therapy more accessible.

It can feel overwhelming to be proactive about making positive changes in our lives. Everyone has their own complicated life circumstances related to school, family, work, relationships, and mental and spiritual well being. Therapy can be an essential tool to work to un-complicate these circumstances and focus on making happiness and wellness a daily priority. When we feel overwhelmed with worry or that it's impossible to accomplish daily tasks we feel powerless. I have been in this field for over 15 years and can provide a supportive and empathic environment in which we can work together on specific goals and changes for your life. My experience with issues such as depression, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma, and parenting allow me to help you identify obstacles to change and move forward in improving your overall mental health. I am both a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and a Certified School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor. Entering therapy can be daunting but I will provide a relaxed atmosphere for you to feel empowered and motivated to make real improvements in your life. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities to ensure that we are working towards the best possible solutions for your specific needs.

College is a unique time in that lots of changes are happening. Perhaps you are feeling depressed, anxious, stressed, or unsure how to proceed; maybe you’re experiencing big transitions in school, relationships, or your sense of self in the world. In my practice, I use a mixture of talk psychotherapy and expressive therapies to help you address these big changes, to know and release emotions in a variety of ways so that you are able to effectively cope when things get hard. We may utilize cognitive-behavioral therapy to help address and change negative thoughts that are holding you back, and trauma-informed practices to help heal emotional wounds. I use a person-centered, strengths-based approach to counseling so that you feel empowered, confident, and fully supported in our therapeutic work together. I became a therapist because I don’t ever want people to feel they need to weather the storm alone. You deserve care, compassion, validation, and encouragement to keep going. Thank you for considering me a trusted ally in your journey to greater well-being.

There are times when life brings us challenges and presents us with unexpected or difficult situations. We may not always feel in control over the events in our lives. Stress, anger, fear, anxiety, sadness can often become overwhelming. We may not know which way to turn for support or understand how to bring about the positive changes we’d like to see happen. Change is possible. You have taken the most important first step--reaching out--and I am here to work with you, making your goals realities. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Registered Expressive Arts Therapist (REAT) with over twenty years of experience working with individuals and families. My approach to counseling is non-judgmental, integrative, and collaborative. I work with you so that, together, we can meet your goals. Expressive Therapy is an important approach I use in therapy and it involves engaging in activities like drawing, storytelling, music, writing as part of the process towards a deeper understanding. It provides the means for us to explore and share authentically who we are, our pain, our joy, and to welcome the support of others on our journey.
I am a solution-focused therapist who meets clients where they are at with compassion, but also help to build strategies on how to cope with life. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, offering individual psychotherapy to adults who may find themselves stuck, dissatisfied, or overwhelmed. I view therapy as a collaborative and active process, with the aims of better understanding one's distress and interpersonal difficulties, and improving one's quality of life. I am committed to helping my clients live more meaningful and authentic lives. I am skilled in the use of empirically supported treatments for psychological problems and I employ these strategies flexibly, with the goal of tailoring each client's treatment to his/her/their individual concerns and unique history. I received my Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and I completed my clinical training at the Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School. I've also completed two post-graduate fellowships in psychodynamic psychotherapy. I consider myself a generalist, with particular expertise in young adult mental health. In addition to my private practice, I am a faculty member in the clinical psychology doctoral program at William James College. I served as the Clinical Training Director at the MIT Student Counseling Service for over a decade, and I also have supervised psychiatry residents through the Harvard Medical School Longwood Psychiatry Program. NOTE: I offer sessions via telehealth, and will begin to offer in-person appointments this summer.
