Therapists for college students near IU Bloomington
Hi, I’m Christina Cornejo, LCSW. I’ve been providing therapy for about eight years, and my passion lies in supporting young adults who are navigating the overwhelming transition into adulthood. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or even unsure, my goal is to help you feel more grounded and confident in who you are becoming. I believe in meeting you where you are offering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you can be honest, feel heard, and grow at your own pace. Therapy isn’t about having it all figured out; it’s about having someone walk with you as you discover your path. My practice focuses on breaking intergenerational patterns, strengthening communication, and untangling the internal conflicts that arise when you’re stepping from teens to adulthood, or into a new life transition such as a school, relationship, and/or job. Let's work on discovering yourself. I understand the pressure that can come from school, family expectations, and trying to figure out who you are in a world that doesn’t always reflect your experience. My passion is helping you recognize and unlearn harmful patterns so you can start to redefine yourself on your own terms.
Are there times when you cannot shut off your worried thoughts? Is the adjustment to college more difficult than you imagined? I am trauma informed and will look at how your thoughts impact your emotions, which impact your behaviors. I believe in the mind-body connection and, depending on your needs, will weave in mindfulness and somatic practices during our work together. I use an affirming lens while tailoring my approach to the holistic needs and pace of each individual. I have been practicing therapy for over 20 years and the past seven years have been in a college counseling setting.
My dedication to mental health comes from an interest in patients’ stories and the need to help them, educate them, and encourage them to take an active role in their care. My goal is to collaborate with my patients with empathy to help them better understand their health so they can make important health decisions. I believe in providing individualized care through a holistic approach. I am Board Certified in General Psychiatry. My areas of expertise include Major Depressive Disorder, Mood Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, and psychosis. I am an avid reader and love cooking, gardening, and painting. I have two children and enjoy spending time with my family.

Life is full of ups and downs, and sometimes you need someone to help you work through them! I am passionate about helping others through difficult times - you have so many strengths but just might not have tapped into them yet. As a LCSW with over 9 years experience working with kids, teens and adults as a school-based and outpatient therapist, there isn’t much I haven’t heard from my clients. My hope is that you feel comfortable and relaxed as we work together to determine what is important to you and how to get to where you want to go. My focus is to create a warm, comfortable space for each client. As a queer-identifying clinician, I have a passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, depression, ADHD, and life transitions, as well as have experience with borderline personality disorder and traumatic experiences. During our time together, we will use techniques such as Brainspotting, ACT, CBT, DBT, and mindfulness, meeting you where you are in your therapy process to work towards helping you meet your goals. Healing is hard work, and while there may be tears, we’ll laugh together where we can. Let’s get you on the road to not just living, but thriving!
Most of the students I work with are figuring out who they are while juggling school, family, friendships, and their future. Many feel the weight of being “the strong one” for everyone else, but behind closed doors they’re tired, anxious, or questioning if they’re enough. Some are navigating being away from home for the first time, carrying family expectations, or balancing the pressure to succeed with the need to just breathe. Others feel out of place on campus and want a space where they don’t have to explain themselves or code-switch. I connect best with young people under 25 who are ready for honest conversations, who value a therapist that will both listen deeply and challenge them to grow. My goal is to give you room to unpack your story, understand your emotions, and figure out how to move through stress, relationships, and identity with more clarity and confidence.
I specialize in providing a safe space to work through life challenges. I utilize cognitive behavioral practices, mindfulness and EMDR. I look forward to working with you!

Winding Roads Counseling was created as life is like a winding road and any situation could lead an individual, family, or couple to need to have a non-biased individual to help them manage life’s challenges. Every person has the power to change their current situation for the better, no matter what obstacles they may be facing. Our goal is to collaborate with each person, as each individual is the expert in their own life, to help them develop healthy coping strategies, learn new skills, gain insight, and find purpose and meaning in their life. Therapy is a place to create hope that things can get better, to empower change, and encourage healing. Winding Roads Counseling is a group of licensed and pre-licensed social workers, mental health counselors, psychologists, and marriage and family therapists who are here to help you through the challenges and mental health symptoms you have been facing. We provide individual, family, and couples therapy and work with ages of children from school age to adults throughout their lifespan. I work with clients who are going through life or identity transitions and for those feel alone, anxious, depressed, haunted by their past, or trapped in their tangled thoughts. I also specialize in personality disorders and/or religious trauma. Education on social justice issues, including racial, cultural, LGBTQ+, and religious differences, is a top priority for me. Not all human experiences can be expressed verbally, so I am trained in both traditional talk therapy and offer art therapy as well. My guidance typically involves reframing thoughts, building assertiveness, identifying/managing emotions, trauma-informed care, harm reduction models, and processing experiences. I am also one of the only therapists in Indiana who identifies as a pagan and secular provider. If you are looking for a non-religious therapist who understands growing up in a religious environment, reach out!
My approach to therapy comes from a space of empathy, compassion, and absolutely zero judgement. My goal for every individual is to help them experience a positive change. I utilize a strengths based approach to encourage my clients to tap into their own strengths and resources while also meeting them where they are at in their personal therapeutic journey. I became interested in therapy due to my own personal struggles with addiction and with 11 years of sobriety, I hope to help others. My goal is for my clients to get something out of the work we do together and for it to be worthwhile and beneficial for them. I work alongside my clients to help them reach their goals while appreciating and celebrating their strengths. I have a laid back approach which includes colorful language, an odd sense of humor, and finding a balance to push you outside of your comfort zone to accomplish your goals. I hope to create a safe space for my clients to be themselves and for me to help them process life's tough challenges and celebrate the victories.
