Navigating the transition to college and early adulthood can be exciting, but it can also be incredibly stressful and overwhelming. Are you struggling to manage the pressures of academics, relationships, or being away from home? Do you find yourself constantly worrying, feeling down, or having difficulty sleeping? Are you experiencing conflict with parents, peers, or even professors? Are you questioning whether college is the right path for you, or if you're pursuing it due to external pressure? Everyone experiences some level of stress during this time, but if these feelings are persistent and impacting your daily life, or causing significant relationship strain, it might be helpful to talk to someone. Counseling provides a safe space to explore these challenges, develop coping strategies, and clarify your own goals and values. Our virtual sessions offer the flexibility to meet before, between, or after classes, making it easier than ever to prioritize your mental well-being as you navigate this new chapter. Do you struggle with getting out of bed, intrusive thoughts, or worries that keep you from being your best self? As a child of immigrants, do you experience anxiety and depression shaped by cultural expectations and family pressures? My ideal client seeks a safe space to explore these challenges. They want to break free from patterns of self-doubt and stress, develop healthier coping skills, and achieve a sense of self-acceptance and clarity in order to thrive, not just survive. Am I American enough? Desi enough? I work with first-generation immigrants, South Asians, Muslims, women, and young adults. I also enjoy supporting those navigating women’s health issues and chronic pain. As a first-generation immigrant, I understand the balance between assimilation and cultural expectations and can help navigate dual identities. If these struggles resonate with you, I’d be honored to partner with you on your journey to healing and growth. Taking the first step toward change is powerful, and I’m proud of you for considering it. I’m here to support you in creating the best version of yourself, and I look forward to being part of your healing process.
I believe every one of us is a good person at heart, we are all trying our best and laziness is a myth. You may have a hard time believing that about yourself. You may have been taught (by families or systems) that you are bad, lazy or selfish. You are scared to make decisions or trust your intuition. You want to love yourself the way you love others! I offer a radically different perspective. I think it is possible to love yourself a little bit at a time, take things less personally and create more space in your life for peace.

We strive to promote psychoeducation and skill-building through various treatment modalities (CBT, EMDR, C-DBT, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, etc.) to help you manage your areas of concern. Through the therapy process, you will find our therapists to be compassionate and nonjudgmental. We hope to have the opportunity to meet you and help you realize your full potential!
I believe that mental health is a journey of piecing together multiple working parts, and I hope to be a part of that process with you. About Me I hold a PhD in Social Work and I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker serving the states of Georgia and Maryland. I received my PhD from the University of Alabama, my MSW from the University of Georgia, and BA from The University of Alabama. I have multiple years of clinical experience among various populations (children, teens, families, and young adults), various backgrounds, and in numerous settings (residential, inpatient, outpatient, private practice). I primarily work with ages 6-25. I also currently hold an academic appointment as Assistant Professor of Social Work. I am someone with whom people generally feel at ease and comfortable, which is an important part of what makes therapy work. My initial goal within the therapeutic relationship is to provide you with just that: a positive, safe, and comfortable place, where you feel at ease to talk about things that matter to you. Outside of work, I enjoy hanging out with my pets, finding challenging hikes, cooking/baking, going to the beach/finding water, gardening, exploring the city, and spending time with friends and family. I also enjoy picking up new creative projects and DIYs! Who I Help & What I Help With Who I Can Help Children (6-12) Teens (13-17) Emerging & Young Adults (18-29) What I Can Help With Relationship issues or losing a relationship Adjusting to and navigating life transitions Improving unhealthy/disruptive habits and behaviors Feeling sad or depressed Trauma and loss Feeling overwhelmed or anxious Feeling alone or disconnected from others Experiencing stress at work, school, or home Conflict resolution Learning to value and love yourself My Approach Types of Therapies It’s not uncommon for someone to enter therapy a bit nervous and with no clear sense of where to start – they simply want things to change for the better and to feel like themselves again. You are the expert of your own experience, but it’s easy to lose your way and feel lost when in distress. I will meet you wherever you are and help you piece things back to a sense of what normal feels like for you. The best approach is one that works for you, so I may draw on several different approaches to therapy, all of which have been shown by research to help individuals reduce stress, gain clarity, and make changes in their lives. They include but are not limited to: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Person-Centered Therapy Narrative Therapy Culturally Sensitive Therapy Services & Payment At this time, all sessions will be remote/virtual video sessions and take place through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. This is a great option for accessibility and flexibility, but please be sure to first, consider whether this is the most appropriate option for you at this time. How to Get Started *Ready to get started? Just head to the “Contact Me” tab or the “book appointment” link at the bottom of every page of this website. You can schedule your first appointment on your own and whenever you’re ready with no initial contact required. Please note that I am committed to your privacy. Therefore, please do not include confidential or private information if you choose to email or call. Further and more detailed information will be exchanged through a fully HIPAA compliant platform called SimplePractice. I look forward to speaking with you! Types of Sessions Visits with me typically involve the following types of sessions: Intake Session: Assessment & Planning (60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $175) It’s important to feel comfortable with your therapist. For this reason, the first session serves to help you and me decide whether the therapeutic relationship will be the best fit. The intake is also an Assessment and Planning phase, which is focused on learning more in depth about you, your history, and what brings you to therapy. This phase also allows me to begin putting together a plan for future sessions if you are comfortable with moving forward. All follow up sessions after the initial intake session will be considered a regular therapy session. Regular Individual Therapy Session (30-60 minutes, Accepts Insurance, Private Pay Rate: $90-$160) Following the Assessment and Planning phase, we’ll decide when and how often to meet. Session time frames depend on your treatment needs and personal circumstances and are guided by the plan we develop together. Please note that 30-minute sessions are private pay only. These sessions may work well for children and adolescents, day-to-day check-ins, more solution-focused sessions, quicker access to therapy, etc. Regular Family Therapy Session With Client (30 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $135, Private Pay Only) When needed, family sessions provide an opportunity to strengthen communication, address relational dynamics, and support your child or adolescent’s progress in treatment. These sessions may include parents/guardians, caregivers, and/or siblings depending on the goals we establish together. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Brief Family Therapy Session Without Client (15 minutes; Child & Adolescent Only, $45, Private Pay Only) These brief check-ins offer a dedicated space for parents and caregivers to share observations, ask questions, and stay connected to their child’s therapeutic progress without the client present. They are not a replacement for regular family sessions but rather, serve as a lightweight touchpoint between sessions when needed. Please note that all family sessions of any length are private pay only. Payment Options In-Network Insurance & Third-Party Payers I currently accept the following insurance plans in Georgia: Aetna Cigna/Evernorth United Healthcare/UBH/Optum Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans I currently accept the following insurance plans in Maryland: Aetna Cigna/Evernorth United Healthcare/UBH/Optum Medicaid/Carelon Behavioral Health Medicare & Medicare Advantage Plans This means that if you are enrolled in any of these plans (or potentially any of their subsidiaries), your out-of-pocket expense is limited to your deductible and copay/coinsurance. While I can assist in determining what these costs will be, it may be helpful to ask your insurance provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 2. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *I am currently working to become a provider in network with Anthem as well as any applicable subsidiaries under Anthem in the state of Georgia. I am also currently working to become a provider in network with CareFirst as well as any applicable subsidiaries under CareFirst in the state of Maryland. Private Pay & Out-of-Network Reimbursement I also accept private pay, and if you have another insurance provider, you may also have out-of-network benefits. With this option, your insurance benefits may reimburse the majority of the cost of therapy. With both private pay and out-of-network reimbursement, you will be provided with automatic invoices, statements, and superbills for any needed reimbursements later from your insurance provider. I recommend calling your insurance provider to learn more about how reimbursement works. It may be helpful to ask your provider the following questions prior to your intake session: 1. Does my plan provide out-of-network coverage for outpatient mental health services? 2. What is my deductible and how much is remaining? 3. What percentage of payments for outpatient mental health services does my plan cover after the deductible is met? *Lack of insurance coverage, privacy concerns, flexibility, and quicker access to care are only a few of the reasons why one might choose this option. Cancellation Policy All clients are required to have an active credit/debit card on file at the time of scheduling an appointment. For appointment no-shows, last-minute cancellations, or inactive insurance, you will be charged in full regardless of reason. This is necessary, as a time commitment is made and held exclusively for you. You may still apply this fee to future appointments/copays. Contact Me Ready to get started? As a licensed and board-certified mental health counselor, I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space to help you break through the barriers that may be holding you back—often rooted in past painful experiences. You deserve support on your journey, and I’m here to walk alongside you, every step of the way. Let’s take that first step together - reach out today.
Compassion and collaboration are key elements in growing through any life circumstance. Together, we can build a foundation to move forward with insight, hope, and change. I believe therapy is a collaborative process that brings your unique life circumstances and experiences to a safe and warm environment. While growth and change are a life-long process, each challenge can be addressed within a supportive counseling relationship to bring awareness and change. In working from a client-centered perspective, my goal is to work side by side and help you achieve the life you desire. My approach to therapy is largely client-centered wherein I strive to make each client feel comfortable and safe, while simultaneously exploring a cognitive-behavioral model, psychodynamic aspects, trauma-focused, and interpersonal interventions. I received my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia and completed my clinical internship with college students at Georgia Southern University. I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, self-concept, family/relational concerns, infertility and perinatal loss, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, trauma, life transitions, and men’s concerns. Additionally, I provide assessments in the areas of psychoeducational assessment, ADHD, learning disabilities, and bariatric assessments. Please feel free to ask me any questions about therapy services or assessment opportunities. I currently offer both in-person and virtual sessions.
Are you a female college student feeling dissatisfied with your life and open to exploring the ways in which your thoughts and feelings drive behavior? Do you wish you had the skills to increase mindfulness and better stress tolerance or emotional regulation? Are you experiencing a major life transition—such as college or entry to adulthood or a change in relationship or career status or health—and need help making meaning of your experience or changing internalized narratives that aren’t working for you? I am a trained therapist and educator who takes a holistic approach to your health and how the mind, body, and spirit influence your overall wellness. With my help, we will challenge negative thoughts to identify distortions and triggers, establish boundaries, and avoid reactive behavior patterns to promote personal development. By teasing apart the accepted narratives, you will gain a better understanding of how this affects your behaviors, moods, and emotions and will empower you to change the way you think and operate in the world.

I try to create a welcoming and comfortable environment to provide support and encouragement. Life often feels like it ought not be this difficult, let me help you work through this stage of life and get on a road that will lead to happy life for you.
In our "land of the free," experiences of depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma are increasingly common. Many feel weighed down by shame about the past, dread about the future, or disconnection in their relationships. Our culture that demands constant productivity makes it easy to lose sight of meaning and connection. I work with people navigating these challenges, particularly those at the intersections of religious trauma, neurodivergence, and gender & sexual identity. If you're searching for clarity, growth, and connection, I am here to partner with you. My practice is informed by DBT, ACT, psychodynamic theory, and intersectional feminism. I aim to be a fellow explorer and accountability partner. Above all, I am a curious person, and I thrive on finding the joy and (sometimes dark) humor in everyday life. I know that finding a therapist and scrolling through profiles can be stressful or scary. If you're feeling that way, we can start there. In our sessions, no topic is taboo or off the table (try me). Authenticity is never wasted, and I want to meet you in whatever stage you're at, mentally and emotionally. Reach out and let's chat.

Thank you for considering me to be part of your journey. My name is Allia (she/her), and for my clients, I provide a safe and healing place to grow. For the past four years, I’ve worked as a therapist and advocate for child and adult survivors of abuse and sexual assault. And through this work, I have honed my skills in helping people through trauma, transitions, self-worth issues, and identity. I work with a wide range of clients and survivors and particularly gravitate towards individuals within the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities and young adults. Each person is different and thus, each treatment plan is individualized to meet that person’s needs. And in working together, I will follow your lead and meet you where you are.
