Many students I work with seem to be “doing fine” on the outside but feel anxious, overwhelmed, or emotionally drained inside. They may overthink constantly, put intense pressure on themselves to succeed, carry family expectations, or try to move forward while still feeling the weight of painful past experiences. Some feel responsible for everyone else’s needs. Others are tired of always being the strong one. Many feel alone with emotions that seem bigger than they expected. If you notice you shut down when things get intense, struggle to set boundaries, or feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand, there’s usually a reason for that. In therapy, we don’t just manage symptoms. We figure out what’s driving them. My goal is for you to feel more grounded, more confident, and more secure in yourself, not just getting through college, but actually feeling better.
I love working with students and specialize in life transitions and managing anxiety and depression. I also have a great deal of experience in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and am trained in EMDR. I have daytime and limited evening appointments available and am located within walking distance to the Bethesda metro. I also offer online/skype sessions through a secure platform.
I specialize in working with adults & teens struggling with mood disorders, depression, self-harm, anxiety, substance abuse, trauma and personality disorders to replace problem behaviors with positive coping skills through Dialectical Behavior Therapy. DBT is helpful for those struggling with managing emotions & stress. I also run DBT Groups for adults & teens. I also have a subspecialty in perinatal mental health including during PPD/PPA, pregnancy, postpartum, loss and PPD in spouses. I have a Masters in Social Work at Rutgers University. I believe that therapy should be client-centered, non-judgmental and at your pace. I hope to inspire you to make change in their life, work towards your goals, process life events and build useful coping skills. I can help you be in control of your emotions, manage stress without problem behaviors and be present in your life. Please feel free to reach out via phone, email or message so that we can chat about how I can be helpful!
Are you having trouble falling or staying asleep? Are you replaying painful memories in your head, unable to get past troubling thoughts? If you have tried everything to get better sleep, get rid of negative thoughts and anxiety, I can help using evidence-based techniques like EMDR (eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing) and CBT-i (cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia). In my practice, I help teenagers and adults work through depression, anxiety, trauma, chronic illness, problems sleeping and difficulty adjusting to college life. I believe that therapy works best when the therapist-client relationship is a collaboration, and we figure out how to move forward together. Clients describe my style as integrative, empathic and accepting and I hope to help you uncover the underlying cause of your struggles. If you have a busy schedule, working on yourself gets put off for months or even years. You may even feel like you are not worth prioritizing. Reaching out to a therapist can be difficult, but it is the first step toward getting better. Please contact me for a free phone consultation to determine if we will be a good fit.

Are you navigating modern motherhood, and work-life "balance" (is there EVER really complete balance)? Does making friends feel like a chore? Maybe it's ADHD, anxiety, or postpartum? Is perimenopause knocking at the door? Let's figure it out together. I am kind, but direct in my approach. Please understand that I no longer conduct phone consultations. I believe that the best way to truly decide if we are a good fit working together, is to meet and go from there. My approach to working with clients is that the client is always the expert on their own lives. I see clients from a strengths-based perspective, and help my clients recognize and use those strengths fully. I take an integrative approach to meet your needs. The Sanctuary Care & Counseling Center is a counseling practice that aims to facilitate wellness through the integration of spirituality and mental health. This is done through ensuring that clients feel safe, supported, and are persistently reminded to extend themselves grace and self-compassion. In the Sanctuary clients are provided a safe space to discuss the complexities of "adulting", process their trauma, navigate grief, adjust to change and transitions, be vulnerable about their fears and insecurities, and express uncertainty and ambivalence about their faith stories. Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to have it -" all together". We invite you to The Sanctuary, where we will partner with you as you strive to figure it out.
