I work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure how to balance school, relationships, and life transitions. Many are navigating anxiety, stress, relationship concerns, or the impact of past experiences. My goal is to support students in healing, transforming unhelpful patterns, and building the tools they need to thrive—both in college and beyond.

Trauma, chronic illness(es), and eating disorders are intense, unique experiences that can change the way we think, respond, and prepare for day-to-day activities. It can also change the way our body functions on a basic level. I strive to provide a comfortable environment where everyone can explore traumas, create coping skills, and gain self-confidence. It is within a safe, comforting environment that people have the potential to create meaningful change in their lives.

As human beings, we often find ourselves wanting more freedom, or perhaps wanting more purpose in our lives, or craving a sense of inner peace. Other times, we find ourselves caught up in difficult and challenging relationships in our personal lives or at work. Whether your life feels overwhelming or underwhelming, I believe that care and courage, along with some healthy curiosity can go a long way in helping you locate new possibilities and finding solutions that work for you. My process is not a one-size-fits-all affair. Indeed, the work we do together is unique to each and every individual I encounter and always begins with accepting you just as you are. Beginning the self-exploration of therapy is an act of courage. I respect your bravery by always providing a calm, warm, and nonjudgmental space to discuss and process your concerns. Together, we’ll collaborate in clarifying your goals, identifying effective strategies, and finding a path that will work for you.

I am an experienced therapist who helps adults and adolescents with anxiety, life transitions, and trauma recovery. I offer a personalized approach to each client's unique needs. I help teens and adults move from anxiety, anger, and panic into greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and healthier relationships. Using EMDR, we focus on creating deep, lasting change—so you can feel more in control, connected, and free in daily life. I consider each client's unique characteristics, strengths, values, and needs to create a unique treatment plan for each client. My approach is to come alongside my clients in a way that is free from shame and judgment while creating a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment. Many people come to therapy feeling stuck, overwhelmed, disconnected, or exhausted from carrying the same stress, grief, relationship struggles, or emotional pain for far too long. You may feel frustrated that despite your efforts, the same patterns keep showing up in your relationships, communication feels difficult, burnout has taken over, or life no longer feels sustainable in the way it once did. Some clients come in feeling anxious, emotionally drained, lost in a major life transition, or unsure how to reconnect with themselves or the people they love. If this sounds like you, I'm glad you're here. I specialize in working with young adults and couples experiencing relationship distress, emotional disconnection, attachment injury, burnout, betrayal trauma, separation, and major life transitions. I also support women navigating pregnancy, postpartum adjustment, identity shifts, and the emotional challenges that can come with these changes. I believe therapy should be a collaborative process rooted in honesty, connection, and compassion. Using a person-centered, attachment-based approach, I work alongside clients to explore the emotions and patterns keeping them stuck. Together, we work toward healing, healthier relationships, and greater overall balance, hope, and fulfillment.

As a queer therapist, I believe there is no one “right way” to live our lives. This is the same for therapy, there is no “right way.” I believe we all have the power to harness our strengths and find the path that gives us the most meaning and purpose. Clients are the experts in their own lives – each person has the tools and skills to solve their problems, though sometimes may need some outside help to find those tools and learn those skills. Together we can create a therapeutic alliance that is conducive towards self-discovery, growth, and fulfilling your potential while honoring your history, resiliency, values, and beliefs. I completed my Masters in Social Work at Loyola University Chicago. I am working towards being a Certified Sex Therapist (CST) through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). I specialize in working with the LGBTQ+ community, gender diverse, the consensual non-monogamy (CNM) community, and I am kink/BDSM-affirming.

I spent much of my adult life working in Emergency Medicine as a Paramedic before going to the Physician Assistant program at Loma Linda University in Southern California. After graduating from there in 2018, I spent the past five years working in addiction medicine in a residential treatment program in Boulder, Colorado. Working in addiction medicine, I commonly assisted adult patients, of all ages, dealing with anxiety, depression, cravings, withdrawal symptoms and sleep challenges. Patients would often come to me wanting to reduce their amount of medications to just what was helpful and necessary and I would take a lot of pride in helping them achieve that goal. Genetic testing provides a helpful tool to initially choose, change or adjust a dose of a particular medication. I believe that it is important to meet an individual where they are in the healing process and to address the whole person rather than just the presenting problem or symptom. To address the “whole person” requires getting a detailed history and a partnership between patient and provider. Establishing such a partnership gives me great joy.

My passion is helping others to manage their stress, anxiety, and depression. I help adults and teens achieve balance and flow in their life through therapy and mindfulness training. I believe in working with people from where they are in life. Each one of us intuitively knows what we need in order to work through life's struggles. Through mindfulness, self-inquiry, being outdoors, and moving our bodies, I can help you to find more peace and stillness in a time of stress and intensity. Believing that you already have everything you need to get through the difficult times in your life is essential. Offerings: Multi-Modality Coaching & Talk Therapy Using different modalities (CBT, mindfulness therapy, coaching) I facilitate a deeper sense of self-awareness and understanding, enabling you to get unstuck, find a deeper sense of peace, and reach your peak performance. Movement-Based Nature Therapy We will move together outside and connect in a therapeutic relationship. Movement stimulates the brain, enabling parts of yourself to come out that wouldn’t necessarily arise in a typical therapeutic setting.

You and your life isn’t one note. You are multifaceted and the demands you face happen to be as well – particularly when you are a student. Currently, the sound-track of your life has moved away from the sounds of a harmonious symphony -or maybe from an upbeat pop song- to something more unnerving and stressful (like the alarm you use to wake up to in the morning or the background music in a horror film—building tension, bracing yourself from some known or unknown threat). It makes sense that life has been overwhelming -increased responsibilities and life demands alone would contribute to this feeling. Add fears about the future, a recent breakup, challenging relationship dynamics with family, and/or other stressors and you might find yourself tipping the scales of your emotional bandwidth. I help students focus on the unique aspects of their lives that are no longer serving them – with empathy, tools, problem-solving, and emotional healing and growth. I believe you can have a richer and higher-quality of life– free from the overwhelming influence of your current life demands, harmful past experiences, poor modeling, and environmental toxicities (psychological). Call me to schedule an initial consultation (415) 356-9897 or fill out contact form https://www.alexandrialeedy.com/take-action.

Fundamentally, my aim is to support my clients in contacting their inner self-knowing, and "make friends" with all of the various parts of themselves in the warmth and security of this inner space. To achieve this, I practice person-centered therapy, with a strong emphasis on somatic awareness. When working with clients, I am listening for "what wants to be heard" that day. In my view, I am a supportive and curious observer, and my job is to reflect back to my client what I am seeing. My style tends to be more direct, and I regularly encourage my clients to take ownership over their treatment and to trust themselves. In a first session with me, we explore where you've been, where you are, and where you would like to go. Often, I invite people to tell me their story and then describe their current situation. We will work together to assess what feels like the most supportive areas of focus, and will create some goals which guide our future sessions. During this process, however, you can still expect curiousity, empowerment, and validation. What's most important in any session is establishing a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship.
