Therapists for college students near Los Angeles, CA
Feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to begin? You’re not alone and you don’t have to navigate it alone. Welcome to The Center of Resiliency. My name is Laura, and I’m honored you’re here. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can finally exhale. You are taking the first step and reaching out for therapy can feel hard, my hope is to offer you safety, understanding, and support as you begin your journey toward healing and growth. I work with individuals ages 16 and up who may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. Many people I support are navigating anxiety, low mood, self-doubt, life transitions, or relationship challenges. I also work with couples who want to improve communication, rebuild trust, or feel more connected in their relationship. In addition, I have a special passion for supporting parents of children with special needs and understand how emotionally and physically demanding that role can be. You don’t have to carry everything on your own. In our work together, you can expect a warm, honest, and collaborative approach. Therapy with me is not about being “fixed,” but about helping you better understand yourself, build healthier patterns, and develop tools that fit your real life. We will move at your pace and focus on what matters most to you. My goal is for therapy to feel like a partnership where you feel empowered, not judged. I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at National University, with training in both individual and relationship-focused therapy. Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, listening to music, and getting lost in a good book. My own life experiences have shaped my belief that healing happens through genuine connection, compassion, and feeling truly seen. If you’re considering therapy, I would be honored to walk alongside you.
As a licensed Marriage and Family therapist with over 20 years experience, I have had the pleasure of working with hundreds of individuals and couples going through many different life experiences. I am a therapist who listens, helps support client goals, meets the client where they are at in their life, and encourages clients to look closely at one’s life and choices both in the session, and in between sessions.
College can be an incredibly stressful time. Whether you are far away from where you grew up, living at home and commuting to school, or living on campus, there is an overwhelming amount of transition that happens once high school ends. Not only are you deciding what you want to do with your life and juggling schoolwork, but you are also figuring out who you are and who you want to spend your time with. This is a time where you may be able to truly be yourself for the first time in your life, where you can have a clean slate to be the person you want to be. With all of these challenges, it can feel very isolating and demanding trying to do this all on your own. It is common for college students to feel very depressed and anxious during this time, and it can also feel hard to reach out to someone to talk to about it all. You don't have to do it alone. Going to therapy is a great way to get the support you need and become the best version of yourself. I can understand why coming to therapy isn't easy though. Why tell a stranger the most personal details of your life? Because by not knowing anything about you or being a part of your life, I can offer an objective and unbiased perspective on your situation while giving you concrete tools and strategies to improve the areas you are struggling in. I've worked with many college students and have seen them make meaningful changes in their lives after going to therapy and believe that you can too. Please feel free to reach out to me and we can discuss any questions you may have, and I hope to hear from you soon!
With parents from two different continents and a childhood in a third, I am a product of globalization. I am incredibly curious about how we exist and make choices in this increasingly complex world of enmeshed culture and fractured identities. Knowing I wanted to approach therapy in a unique manner, I studied Drama Therapy. With that knowledge base, and previous experience in improvisational theater and fine art, my approach veers toward the embodied, the sensory, and the creative. I work mostly conversationally, but enjoy tangents into creative expression to bypass well-worn defensive structures of the overly-relied-on brain.
Online or in-person, this is designated for individuals to process and explore their feelings, thoughts and beliefs. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly. This is a great option if you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or relationship issues. I help millennials and young adults explore the challenges in their life and find ways to more effectively manage feelings that are no longer serving them. I have worked with a lot of different populations in my career but I really love working with young professionals, undergraduate, and graduate students.
**ACCEPTING NEW CIGNA OR CASH CLIENTS** My focus is to provide support for infant massage, children, individuals, couples, parent/child dyadic relations, family systems, or other non-traditional relationships (best friends, co-workers, "trouples", etc.) to find healing and identify each individual's inner strengths and connections. I achieve this by providing a safe "neutral" space, listening to your concerns, identifying rooted issues, and processing to foster growth. I provide various strategies for processing trauma, in addition to traditional talk therapy, such as sand tray, dyadic art, therapeutic play, etc. As a LGBTQ affirming therapist, I am open minded to all walks of life and relationship choices. I am not here to judge your choices. We focus on relational systems and assist each member in creating mindfulness in their choices. We will work on identifying generational patterns that contribute to behaviors and patterns. Our goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain, and move forward to where you want to be in your life. I promise to be there for you every step of your journey, for as long as you will allow me. No Hablo Espanol.

Many times, it is more than ok, and what makes us more of an individual, helps on the journey to wellness, being unapologetically yourself, putting a laugh out there to the universe and finding the good things in life along the way. Humor and levity may be evident and incorporated into the therapeutic process. I feel that everyone should have the ability to access mental wellness support and counseling. As a military spouse, and moving all over the country for 18 years, allthewhile working in the helping profession, I have grown to recognize the cultural apprehension, inability to access and equity issues that surround access to counseling. Summer Sessions Counseling is founded on the belief that mental wellness support should be accessible by everyone without stigma, physical access and transportation barriers, without requiring a diagnosis, to access one's best self. What is therapy like? What can I expect from my first session? The first session is typically a review of information you supplied on your intake form and address concerns that you may have. As you progress in your therapeutic journey, you will get into the real nitty gritty, strategies & processing activities, psychotherapy, counseling activities, art therapy, journaling and carving a new path to your ultimate goal.
